'Nigerian youths now embrace homosexuality' - FG

Nigerians are not happy that the Federal Government has misplaced its priority by meddling in what should not be of concern to them.

Dr. Garba Abari, DG,National Orientation Agency

Punch reports that Dr. Abari made the statement during a program titled, ‘Anti-Corruption: The Role of Media as Change Agents’, organized by the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria in Abuja, on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

Dr. Abari who was the guest speaker at the event, lamented that social values have disintegrated in society as many youths have embraced same-sex marriage and even staged a protest before the National Assembly for the repeal of the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act which prescribes a 14-year jail term for anyone who enters into a gay marriage.

The NOA boss was also said to have urged youths to stop wearing dreadlocks hairstyle, saggy trousers, painting of hair and having tattoos on their bodies.

“It is pertinent to note that the advent of satellite broadcasting has continued to pose a serious challenge to our traditional culture and religious values and our identity as a people.

Our youths are now being deceived by the international media with values that are at variance with our culture and the teachings of our religion.

The wearing of tattoos, dreadlocks hairstyle, sagging trousers and the painting of hair have become a vogue among our young men and women.

Our youths are now publicly clamouring for the legalization of gay marriage and are about to boldly take the campaign to the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly to press for it as a fundamental human right.”

However, Nigerians think the FG and the NOA boss have left what they should do to revamp the country, create jobs to engage these youths and make the urge to indulge in this lifestyle to pursue mundane things.

Many Nigerians took to the social media to lambaste the Federal Government for involving themselves in things that are personal decisions and have advised them to put their priorities right.
