Abstract: Objective:To compare the rosmarinic acid content in Perilla frutescens(L.) Britt. from different habitats in order to establish the quality standard for Perilla frutescens. Methods:The rosmarinic acid contents in eight batches of Perilla frutescens preparation were determined by HPLC using Diamonsil C18(250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 μm) chromatographic column. Methanol-0.1% formic acid(40∶60) was served as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0 m L/min. The column temperature was 35 ℃, while the detection wavelength was 330 nm, and the sample loading was 10 μL. Results:The rosmarinic acid contents in eight batches of Perilla frutescens preparation were 0.149%~0.196%. Conclusion:The HPLC method for determination of rosmarinic acid content in Perilla frutescens is precise and reproducible, which may be used for the study on quality standard for Perilla frutescens.
