National Hero Enters Ford GT In Burnout Contest To Smoke The Meats

With the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend, of course everyone has the new Ford GT on their minds—but let’s not forget the original revival of the Ford GT name. Holy crap, it is a glorious burnout machine and God bless the chill owner who was cool enough to enter it in a burnout contest. This burnout is delicious.

Ford GT Burnout at Carlisle

This clip comes from the Carlisle Ford Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, which is the world’s largest gathering of Fords in one place. Over 3,100 Ford cars and trucks came to the show, including a dozen GTs that were part of a special display, according to a Carlisle representative who sent on the footage.

Fortunately, it wasn’t just a weekend for hard parking, as gathering that many V8s in one place certainly merits hearing them. The original Ford GT packs one such good-sounding engine: a supercharged Ford Modular V8 that makes around 550 hp in stock trim. There was a burnout contest on site, and this year, one of the Ford GTs decided to enter.

The gigantic rear tires for the Ford GT are $517 each, according to a quick look on Tire Rack. Naturally, many owners don’t want to pay for that, but that’s where they’re doing Ford GT ownership wrong. What’s the point of owning a rad car if you never use it?
