Body positive beauties have been stripping down to sexy lingerie or skimpy bikinis to encourage other women to love their bodies.

And it couldn’t come at a more important time – with body image issues on the rise and heightened even more so by “summer body” woes.

according to recent surveys, a whopping 25% of women loathe their figures and 21% of Brits starve themselves by skipping meals before jetting off on holiday.

In a bid to change the way we talk about ourselves, D-K cup lingerie brand Curvy Kate is encouraging ladies to embrace their figures with a new social campaign dubbed #MyBodyMyBFF.

The underwear brand is asking women to adopt a self-affirming, body-loving mindset for one month to see how it changes their self-perception.

Fans need to talk to their body as if it were their best friend to be in with a chance of winning daily prizes.

Previous research has revealed that self-affirmation has the power to change figure hang-ups.

A study by Chrisopher J. Armitage for the University of Sheffield, which asked a group of teens to complete a self-affirmation manipulation questionnaire before rating their body image, found that “self-affirmations had a significant effect on girls’ body satisfaction”.

This means by focusing on certain parts of their body or personalities they were able to see themselves in a more positive light – and overall think more highly of themselves.

Chantelle Crabb, Curvy Kate’s Communications Manager, said: “Curvy Kate have always encouraged women to embrace and love their bodies, and strive to include a wide range of body shapes in their campaigns and across social media.

“However we not only wanted to show this to our fans and customers but involve them too.

“#MyBodyMyBFF is about trying to change the way women think about themselves, in the belief that speaking to yourself positively will eventually change your self-perception.”

The month long competition, which ends on July 15, requires people to replace negative body thoughts with positive ones and share these through social media using the hashtag ##MyBodyMyBFF.

Each day a winner will be announced on Twitter and rewarded with a “Self Love Brings Beauty” t-shirt by Felicity Hayward, a Curvy Kate lingerie set and a BeYOUtiful branded tote.
