Markelle Fultz to Work Out for Philadelphia 76ers

Former University of Washington guard Markelle Fultz is expected to work out for the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, the team announced.

ESPN's Marc Stein and Zach Lowe reported Friday that the Sixers and Boston Celtics were in discussions for a trade involving the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, which is set for Thursday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported the two teams were engaged in deep discussions and added that a potential deal would involve Philly sending the No. 3 overall pick and a future first-round pick to Boston for the No. 1 selection this year.

Moving up to No. 1 would allow the 76ers to add Fultz to a young core that already includes Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Dario Saric.

Boston could be passing on a future superstar if it trades down, but the possibility of selecting former Kansas Jayhawks swingman Josh Jackson at No. 3 is likely appealing to a team that needs help on the wing more than it does in the backcourt.

In his one and only season with the Huskies, Fultz averaged 23.2 points, 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

Prior to talk of a trade, ESPN.com's Chad Ford projected in his latest mock draft that Boston would select Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick.
