Overwatch League reportedly adds Robert Kraft and Fred Wilpon among six secured partners

According to a report by ESPN from Thursday, Blizzard has reportedly secured six agreements with teams for Overwatch League franchises in the cities of Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Boston, Shanghai and Seoul, South Korea.

The Boston franchise, ESPN reports, has been secured by Kraft Sports Group, the company behind the NFL’s New England Patriots. Meanwhile, according to ESPN, the New York franchise will be handled by Fred Wilpon, the owner of the New York Mets Major League Baseball team.

This builds on earlier reporting from ESPN that states that the Los Angeles spot was acquired by the Immortals esports organization, who have prominent teams in both League of Legends and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and were the winners of North America’s Overwatch Contenders Season Zero tournament. Reportedly, Immortals acquired their Los Angeles location for a $20 million buy-in. This same price was reportedly paid for NRG Esports’ San Francisco based spot.

There is no word yet on who has purchased the agreements for Seoul and Shanghai.
