It has already proved a hit since launching in Manchester four years ago and now Veeno, The Italian Wine Café, has taken a prime spot at Cardiff's Mermaid Quay.

And if you are a wine lover, and love nothing better than nibbling on chesse and meat platters while sipping Sicilian wine, you will definitely want to head here when it opens in July.

What is Veeno?

Veeno champions Italy’s after-work culture of drinking, nibbling and relaxing, and specialises in family grown Sicilian wine alongside authentic Spuntini, including platters of meats, cheeses and other appetisers imported from selected Italian producers.

This will be Veeno’s 13th store across the UK and the first to open in Wales.

Why Cardiff?

“Cardiff marks an interesting milestone in our growth plan, this will be our first franchised café and we couldn't’ ask for a better location in which to further prove our already thriving concept” said co-founder Andrea Zecchino, pictured below right with partner Nino Caruso.

Nino added: "Mermaid Quay is a really vibrant area and somewhere we are really excited to be a part of, I’m looking forward to seeing people lapping up the sun with a glass of wine from my family’s vineyard and a platter of our authentic cured meats and cheeses!”

Where will it be and when does it open?

Veeno will open its doors at 9 Mermaid Quay, Cardiff at 5pm on Thursday, July 13.

They are inviting members of the public to join them for the opportunity to enjoy a glass of Nino’s family produced wine by signing up at www.theveenocompany.com

What can we expect?

Veeno source their wine from Nino’s family vineyard in Marsala, Sicily. The Caruso family have been growing vines there since the 19th century. Having such a close relationship between the vineyard and the wine cafés means that only the best quality wines make it from grape to glass.

What will it look like?

The interiors design and fit-out project is being managed by Veeno’s sister company, The Master Key Group.

This is their latest bar in Chester, which opened this year, so we guess it will have a similar vibe.
