Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.81%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 5.00% or 3.00 points to trade at 63.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) added 4.02% or 2.01 points to end at 52.00 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 3.44% or 1.04 points to 31.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which fell 2.80% or 0.14 points to trade at 4.86 at the close. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 2.47% or 0.42 points to end at 16.58 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was down 2.34% or 0.030 points to 1.250.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 46 to 34 and 12 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.17% or 0.53 to $46.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.17% or 0.56 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.07 to trade at $1218.03 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.57% to 358.440, while USD/NGN fell 0.29% to 349.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 95.60.
