How to Update ARMS

Applies to:  Nintendo Switch Family, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model


In this article, you'll learn how to install the update for ARMS.

Note
  • This update must be applied in order to use the game’s Internet features.
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • If the system is connected to the Internet, the update will download and install automatically.
  • Once you have updated the game, you will no longer be able to participate in Local or LAN Play with players using an earlier version.

On November 14, 2022, a new software update for ARMS became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch console is connected to the Internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect the Nintendo Switch console to the Internet.
  2. Return to the HOME Menu and launch the game.
  3. The update will be downloaded and installed automatically.
  4. Once the update is installed, the newest version number will be displayed on the title screen.

  • Smartphone app “Nintendo Switch Online” now supported.
    • If matched with someone in online play, you can automatically match with them on the app as well to engage in voice chat.
    • Party Match, Ranked Match, Friends, and Party Crash are supported.
  • Video Playback from the Dashboard is now smoother.

    Fighters/Arms Adjustments
    Ribbon Girl Freshening up lightens your heart and your feet. Ah, Spring! Increased air dash movement speed.
    But it feels like her feet don’t quite touch the ground properly… Decreased dash movement speed.
    Misango Increased rush gauge fill rate when in red and blue spirit form to be equal to that of other characters.

    Lokjaw Increased retraction speed.
    Fixed issue where under certain conditions ARM would not recover for an extended time.

Ver. 5.2 (Released March 6, 2018)

  • The Party Crash mode “Big Time ARMS” can now be selected in regular battle as well, so you can try something a little different. Feel free to use it as a handicap!
    • Prior to battle, when selecting ARMS, you can toggle this on and off with the Y button.
    • This feature can be used in Versus - Fight.
    • Can’t be used in online battles.
  • Added 15 new images to Gallery.
  • Fixed issue where fighters with super armor would not have their ARMS disabled by electric attacks during a rush attack.
  • Fixed issue where a noise would repeatedly play if communication was lost while Dr. Coyle had her extra ARMS out.
  • Adjusted abilities of some fighters and ARMS as follows.
    Fighters/Arms Adjustments
    Springtron Specs improved thanks to a certain girl genius! Movement during a super charge has been greatly increased.
    He’s a little heavier now, but that’s fine!
    Movement speed for normal jumps has decreased.
    Lola Pop Increased movement speed when jumping.
    Misango Rush gauge now fills at a rate equal to other fighters during normal times.
    Also made it somewhat less difficult for the rush gauge to fill when blue or red.
    Byte & Barq When jumping while on top of Barq, fixed an issue where a shockwave could be seen emanating from Byte as well.
    Fixed an issue where, under certain conditions, the switch on Barqs head would stay pushed in.
    Dr. Coyle Fixed an issue where, under certain conditions, extra ARMS would appear while firing ARMS.
    Nade Fixed issue where self-destruct could occur during rush.

Ver. 5.1 (Released January 31, 2018)

  • Added new “Gallery” feature. Unlock amazing illustrations using in-game currency, or by fulfilling certain conditions.
  • Added new badges.
    • Added badges earned when certain pairs of fighters rack up battles together.
    • Added badges earned by repeatedly using each ARM.
    • And so many more!
  • New additions to Party Crash.
    • ARMS Labs have manufactured the ultimate version of Hedlok. It will appear only in Party Crash.
    • ARMS Labs have thought up some new Bonus Periods. Look out for them!
    • If a featured fighter is losing by more than 1000 points in the current lobby, the bonus for using them will increase from 1.5x to 2x. Time for some comebacks!
  • Added “Tournament Mode.”
    • A mode made for tournaments with all ARMS unlocked.
    • When in Tournament Mode you will be unable to play other modes such as Grand Prix or Ranked Match, and you won’t receive badges or in-game currency. Records will also not be recorded.
    • You can switch between Normal Mode and Tournament Mode on the Top Menu by holding in the R Stick and pressing L and R.
  • Fixed an issue where Dr. Coyle’s extra ARMS would not fire correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where the Ramram would stop moving in mid-air.
  • Fixed an issue in Skillshot, where the Tribolt would fail to return after punching.
