Dishonored brings an old enemy back with Death of the Outsider

Coming this September

At its pre-E3 press conference today, publisher Bethesda announced that Arkane Studios has a new stand-alone Dishonored story on the way, and it’s bringing a fan favorite back from the dead.

Serving as a sequel to both Dishonored 2 and the episodic story DLC from the original Dishonored, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider sees mysterious pirate and former assassin Billie Lurk rescuing her former master — and murderer of Empress Jessamine Kaldwin — Daud, the Knife of Dunwall. As the now-cybernetically enhanced Billie frees Daud from a mysterious ship, the assassin tells her their new target: the supernatural force of chaos The Outsider, the root of both Daud’s powers and those of Dishonored protagonists Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a stand-alone release, available both digitally and physically on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

Based on the trailer, it would appear that both Michael Madsen and Rosario Dawson are reprising their roles as Daud and Billie, respectively. It seems likely that Death of the Outsider will retain the dual-character setup of Dishonored 2, offering different mechanics and story elements based on your selected protagonist.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is scheduled for release on Sept. 15, 2017, for $29.99.

Correction: This story has been updated to clarify that Death of the Outsider is not downloadable content for Dishonored 2, but a stand-alone release.
