Take a moment to reflect on everything and everyone that is currently a part of your life experience: your children or significant other, your job, your home, your belongings. Now allow yourself to consider that, long before any of these things came into being in your physical, tangible, manifested world, they existed as a thought that occurred to you and an intention that was set forth by you.
As your desire to experience these things became stronger and more defined, energy, ideas and resources gathered around it until the momentum of that desire grew strong enough to eventually manifest in a tangible way. Although you may not have been aware of it, you actually had an energetic relationship with all of the people you now know, all of the things you now own, and all of the circumstances you now find yourself in — long before you could perceive any of them with any of your five senses.
Understanding Your Personal Relationship To Money
In the same way, you have, at this very moment, an energetic relationship with money. And the quality of your relationship with money is determined by your thoughts and beliefs about it, by the words you speak when you talk about it, by the choices you make in relation to it and, most importantly, by the way that you feel about it in the privacy of your own heart and mind.
I encourage you to start thinking about the current status of your relationship with money. Does it flow easily into your life or is there a sense of having to work hard, or of sacrifice or struggle? How about the dominant emotions you usually experience when you think about money? Do they lean in the direction of feelings of gratitude, awe, ease and abundance? Or are they more along the lines of frustration, anxiety, jealousy or powerlessness? Do you feel deep down that you will always have enough and that your needs are always being taken care of, or is your experience most of the time that no matter how much you have, it will never be enough?
Understanding that an energetic relationship precedes every physical relationship is the key to transforming your relationship with money, because nothing in your outer world needs to change in order for you to begin affecting this change. But before you actually see the green stuff in your hands, before you watch your credit card bills reflect a zero balance, and before you manifest any tangible evidence of more money flowing into your life, you first have to shift your energetic relationship to it.
Shifting Our Energy To Receive
Everything in life is energy: money, love and happiness are all energy. So is satisfaction, fulfillment, ease, clarity, creativity, freedom, and every other joyful, positive emotion we have the capacity to experience. And fortunately, the universe we live in is an abundant, unlimited supply of all of these energies.
An abundance of all that we desire is available to us in this and every moment, but what we focus on determines how much we allow ourselves to receive. If we are persistently aware of all that we do not yet have, if we consistently feel that we have to sacrifice time or fun to earn money, or if we compare ourselves to others and judge ourselves as not having enough, these perceptions will block from our experience the abundance we’ve asked for and that is trying ceaselessly to come in.
Every relationship in your life exists in a continual process of becoming, which is to say that in every moment you have the power to make your experience of it more fulfilling and more beautiful. All that is necessary to reinvent your relationship with money is to put more of your attention on the presence of it than on the absence of it. Appreciate the energy of abundance that exists within you in the form of love, vitality, creativity and curiosity, and you’ll magnetize greater abundance to your external life through the internal force of attraction, not through struggle. When you align yourself in thought, word and energy with the feeling of having already manifested the money you want, the money you want will find a way to manifest.
