Ryan Gosling hypes the upcoming Blade Runner 2049, saying that the sequel encapsulates the feel and vibe of its predecessor. The original Blade Runner film was rolled out way back in 1982 and starred Harrison Ford as the main protagonist, Rick Deckard - a so-called Blade Runner whose main responsibility was to track down bioengineered beings known as replicants and "retire" them.
After 35 years, the premise of the iconic Scott Ridley masterpiece is being revisited by director Denis Villeneuve with a sequel introducing a new Blade Runner, LAPD Officer K (Gosling). As K discovers a looming threat that could potentially end all of humanity, he goes searching for Deckard, who had mysteriously disappeared 30 years earlier, in the hopes that he can help him crack down on the upcoming danger and prevent it from happening.

Attending this year's CinemaEurope being held in CCIB (Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona), Gosling provided some nuggets of information regarding Blade Runner 2049 at a photocall with THR. The actor also hinted about the possibility of existing questions from the original film getting some answers.
"It's iconic for a reason. It's a very deep and powerful and haunting film. It leaves you with more questions than answers and, as a kid, I wasn't used to that. I was used to things being sewn up for me. It was exciting as a fan to know that some of those questions might get answered, and to go back into that universe and explore that world and see how things evolved."
Gosling also teased fans of the original film saying that the follow-up imbues all things that made Blade Runner tick with some additional elements that makes the sequel a great film on its own. Gosling said Blade Runner 2049 director Villeneuve was "so loyal to the original, but at the same time wasn't intimidated by it."
Ford's involvement with the sequel definitely brings up the nostalgia factor to the sequel. After all, he was the face of the first Blade Runner movie. Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens is a huge testament to Ford's ability to take moviegoers all the way back to when he first debuted his iconic roles following him also stepping back in the boots of Han Solo after more than 30 years.
Over the last couple of years, Hollywood (be it TV or movies) has been plagued with sequels and reboots of fairly old and successful properties - some of them were misses while some were hits. But with a property as iconic as Blader Runner, Gosling, Villeneuve and the rest of the crew involved in Blade Runner 2049 are gambling a whole lot, which we hope only pays off.
