The long-anticipated film about Star Wars' gruff rogue Han Solo hit a huge setback yesterday when it was announced that Disney decided to part ways with its directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller citing "creative differences." This decision comes after months of the duo clashing with executive producer/co-writer Lawrence Kasdan and producer Kathleen Kennedy.
“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” said Lord and Miller in a statement.
If this is confusing to you and you're trying to make sense of it, just take a look at these freshly leaked emails of the duo corresponding with Kennedy that are definitely not fake and that I most certainly did not make up.

Hi guys,
I just wanted to take a second to clear up some miscommunication. I think we got our wires crossed somewhere and I think it’s incredibly important at this point in production that we are all on the same page. I gave you a small amount of leeway on the script, but that was mostly for practicality. I most certainly did not intend for you to change large portions of the script that would alter the plot entirely into its current incomprehensible form.
Firstly, the character Chewbacca is a creature known as a Wookiee. These creatures are featured prominently throughout Star Wars lore, and Chewbacca is not simply a human man in a giant hairy suit as you describe him in this excerpt from your new script:
Also, the iPad, and every Apple product for that matter, is not canon in Star Wars. Please remove any additional references to Apple, including the mind-boggling 16 pages they spend talking about the new MacBook Pro.
Secondly, I found this following scene incredibly troubling for many reasons.
The scene preceding this was Han and Lando running away from outer rim gangsters so I can't seem to make sense of why they are suddenly playing tennis at a Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Ray (Earth is NOT Star Wars canon) and speaking in British colloquialisms. Also why is Lando dating Drew Barrymore? Is she playing herself? This is completely ungrounded and needs to be removed.
Finally, we have the climax. I don't even need to get into why this needs to be completely changed:
It goes without saying that Lando cannot die in this film, as it is a prequel to the original Star Wars trilogy (for which Lando is very much alive.) This is unacceptable, guys. We have faith in your creative vision but this is simply too far out of line. Please make the requested changes or I'm afraid we will have to part ways on this project.
