Hulk’s bed in Thor: Ragnarok looks like it was ripped out of The Flintstones

In the coolest way possible

Hulk from the Thor: Ragnarok teaser trailer Marvel Studios

Marvel gave us our first look at Thor: Ragnarok last month and thanks to a Marvel museum exhibit opening in Australia today, “Marvel: Making of a Cinematic Universe,” we have our first look at Hulk’s magnificent bed.

The bed, seen in the tweets below, carries with it the air of a king but stuck in an anachronistic moment. Ragnarok takes place in space, across different planets and featuring an array of strange characters that would probably fit in The Fifth Element pretty well. It’s not surprising that director Taika Waititi would want to give the Hulk a cool, conceptual bed to fit both the character’s style and the tone of the film, but the result is so much better than anyone could have imagined.

There’s no mistaking the skull bed as the Hulk’s, but while the eye may be drawn immediately to the bones and sharp teeth that make up the base, the best part about it is the ‘70s shag comforter that adorns it. Why does the Hulk need a comforter as funky and cool as that one? There’s no logical explanation, but Waititi made it clear in a Reddit AMA last year that he didn’t want to make a run-of-the-mill Marvel movie. The director added he wanted to make it one of the quirkiest and craziest yet.

“I think TR will be one of the most adventurous and most 'out there' of all the Marvel movies," Waititi wrote. "It's a crazy movie."

That has yet to be seen, of course, but based on the trailer and the new photos of Hulk’s bed, Ragnarok is shaping up to be one of the most interesting superhero movies this year. Thor: Ragnarok will be released on Nov. 3.
