(By Mark Ellis) Carol Waisanen gave a talk at her church about “Facing Your Giants” on May 7th. She and her husband, Don, share pastoral duties at Solid Rock Restoration Church in Riverside, California.  “When all human hope is gone as a possibility, Abraham placed his faith and hope in God,” Carol declared that morning, preaching from Romans 18. “Have you ever gone through a trial and felt like you were staggering? When everything looks impossible—dead—you can still say you believe in

the impossible?  “Like Abraham, we all face our giants …” That same evening, Carol began to feel sick. “She threw up and we thought she had food poisoning,” Don says. Her condition continued to deteriorate through the week.  On May 12th, Don rushed her to the emergency room at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana. After running a variety of tests, doctors returned with a grim report.  Carol was diagnosed with uterine cancer. The fast-growing tumor created a blockage in her abdomen, triggering her symptoms.
