Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom release date confirmed

Studio Ghibli lovers, rejoice!

Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is set to be released Nov. 10 for PlayStation 4 and PC, according to Sony’s E3 2017 press conference. Announced a little under two years ago, fans can finally expect the sequel this year.

Its predecessor, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, was heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli’s animation styles. Although similar visual elements remain in the sequel, its overworld and combat appear to be less cartoonish than the first one. Our early preview noted the much-needed combat changes like switching between other characters and the addition of mysterious creatures called Higgledies for aid.

Ni no Kuni 2s protagonist is a young king named Evan ousted from his position by his subjects — he was perceived as “too nice” for the job. He joins a middle-aged leader from the real world (transported to the fantasy realm like the protagonist in the last game) on a quest to find himself and become more of a true leader. You can find early gameplay in our preview below.

E3 2017 begins on June 13, with press conferences starting June 10. For the big announcements, make sure to check out our one-stop shop for the show's streams.
