Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.76% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 9.52% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.690 at the close. Meanwhile, Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) added 5.65% or 2.30 points to end at 43.00 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 4.61% or 1.01 points to 22.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which fell 3.95% or 0.38 points to trade at 9.23 at the close. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) declined 2.71% or 1.49 points to end at 53.50 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was down 2.11% or 0.030 points to 1.390.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 44 to 40 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.61% or 1.01 to 22.90.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.54% or 0.24 to $44.49 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $46.91 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 1.59% or 20.29 to trade at $1255.61 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.41% to 351.240, while USD/NGN fell 0.15% to 324.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 97.49.
