Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is leaving the company.

A $4.48 billion deal in which Verizon will subsume Yahoo's business operations has led to her resignation, though she stashed away $23 million on the way out.

"Given the inherent changes to my role, I’ll be leaving the company," Mayer wrote in a note on Tumblr. "However, I want all of you to know that I’m brimming with nostalgia, gratitude, and optimism."

Despite the divorce of Mayer and Yahoo, her departure was somewhat expected as a part of this deal.

Verizon, which owns AOL, will now combine AOL and Yahoo into a media operation known as Oath, which posted a promo video on Twitter early Tuesday morning.

By their powers combined, the operation — which features names from Tech Crunch to HuffPost — will reportedly reach around one billion consumers.
