Award-winning Nigerian Writer & Filmmaker Onyeka Nwelue Shares Pictures to Celebrate the Release of his New Novel – The Beginning of Everything Colourful

29 year-old award-winning Nigerian writer, filmmaker and teacher, Onyeka Nwelue has released his new novel, The Beginning of Everything Colourful (Hattus Books) in the United States of America, after 7 years of publishing his debut novel, The Abyssinian Boy (DADA Books) which won the TM Aluko Prize for Fiction, the Ibrahim Tahir Prize for First Book and the Prince Claus Ticket Grant.

Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, during the filming of an episode of The Onyeka Nwelue Show, which will be aired on Linda Ikeji TV, endorsed Nwelue’s new book, which is set in Mexico and Japan and written in Spanglish.

His debut documentary film, The House of Nwapa has just been nominated in the Best Documentary Award category of the 2017 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) and has screened at over 12 film festivals globally. It is based on Flora Nwapa, considered as Africa’s first female novelist published in English.

Nwelue is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Manipur University, India and currently a Research Fellow at Center for International Studies at Ohio University in Athens.
