You’d never know that the swanky home is 118 years old

A polished townhouse at 33 Charles Street in the West Village has hit the market asking $12 million and it’s everything you might want in a townhouse: it’s pretty, spacious, and even has a bit of Hollywood pedigree.

Dating back to 1899, the 3,336-square-foot pad was once home to Million Dollar Baby actress Hilary Swank. She purchased it in 2002 with her then-husband Chad Lowe for just $3.2 million, then sold the property in 2007 for a profitable $7.05 million, per the New York Post.

The stunning home covers five floors (alas, there’s no elevator) and has house three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a library, at least three walk-in closets, and even a temperature-controlled wine cellar in the basement. Common spaces like the living and dining room fuse contemporary elegance with a few classic details like restored original woodwork, new gas fireplaces, loft ceilings that sprawl 11 feet high, and oversized windows.

The eat-in kitchen is huge and bedecked with limestone floors, two ovens, a built-in refrigerator, two dishwashers, and wall of floor-to-ceiling steel and glass casement doors that lead out to the landscaped backyard.

On the second floor, there’s a large master suite with a dressing room and an expansive bathroom, complete with a freestanding tub, double sinks, and a wall of antique mirrors. The third level features two more bedrooms, another bathroom, and a den with three skylights.
