Irishman Bernard Jackman takes the coaching reins of the Dragons this summer amid reports of causing a 'dessert storm' at his former employers Grenoble.

The nine-times Irish hooker is claimed to have caused player unrest at the Top 14 club when banning puddings from the players' menu at the club's training ground.

It was also reported by French media that some players found his physical training methods too hard and his offensive system too complicated.

Jackman, who previously won a Heineken Cup and Celtic League with native province Leinster, left the French outfit in March and will now take over the coaching reins at Rodney Parade from WRU-bound Kingsley Jones.

Jackman was appointed director of rugby at Grenoble in 2016 following the departure of former Neath and France hooker Fabrice Landreau.

Grenoble struggled under the Irishman’s leadership in the 2016-17 season and were eventually relegated from the Top 14.

Like any side that is enduring a persistent run of bad form, the inevitable questions of a ‘player revolt’ or ‘losing the dressing room’ surfaced.

According to Paris-based journalist Gavin Mortimer, this is what happened with Jackman. However the reasons for dissatisfaction among the Grenoble players seems bizarre to say the least.
