Police are investigating reports of alleged sexual assault on a train travelling to Cardiff.

The incident, which happened on a journey from Cheltenham Spa to Cardiff Central Station, took place on March 28 between 10am and 10.25am.

According to British Transport Police the complainant boarded the train service at 9am and was joined by a male passenger who sat next to her.

He was said to be fidgety throughout the journey, and as the train left Chepstow allegedly began to rub the woman’s leg with his left hand in his trouser pocket.

According to the report made to officers he continued to touch her despite the woman’s best efforts to move further away from him.

Both the alleged victim and the man then alighted the service at Cardiff Central Station, according to police.

Investigating officer, PC Craig Farrell, said: “I am keen to speak to the man in the CCTV image as I believe he has information that could help with the investigation.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who may have been travelling on the service at the time stated and who may have seen a man acting in an inappropriate manner.”

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with any information should contact the British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.
