Twitter Just Added a Requests Folder for DMs From Unfollowed Users
Accepting messages in requests enables users to engage with senders, while deleting them removes DMs from the inbox
Twitter users who have opted to receive direct messages from anyone can now find DMs from users they don’t follow in their Requests folders.
Facebook made a similar move with its Messenger application in October 2015, allowing all users to communicate with one another but placing messages from non-friends in a then-new Message Requests folder.
Twitter announced the move in a tweet (embedded below), directing users to a support page, which reads:
If you’ve opted-in to get Direct Messages from anyone, messages from people you don’t follow will go into requests.
