Oyo State chapter of the Accord Party has described the last two years of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state as a “monumental failure”.

Accord Party in its Democracy Day message made available to DAILY POST on Monday accused the governor of misplacing priorities by abandoning LAUTECH lingering crisis and floating another university named Technical University.

In the statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, Accord Party accused Ajimobi of losing focus on its policies and projects.

DAILY POST recalls that Ajimobi after successfully spent four years in office and re-elected for another term promised to consolidate on his previous achievements.

According to him, his previous achievements in the first tenure include the restoration of peace and tranquillity which eluded the state before his assumption, completion of the dual-carriage Mokola-Gate Road.

Ajimobi who was elected as the first two-term governor in the history of the state considers himself as the most performed governor of the state, but the opposition parties are having contrary opinions.

Accord through its spokesperson said it is amazing that Ajimobi who finds it difficult to pay LAUTECH staff their outstanding 9 months salaries could release N2.4 billion to fund a white Elephant’s Technical University project.

The statement reads, “It is an incontrovertible fact that Governor Ajimobi led APC government in Oyo State is a monumental failure.

“Not only that he has turned a once flourishing and prosperous State into a failed state as education, health and social services are in comatose, hardly can one sleep with eyes closed due to robbery incidence across the state.

“I am still amazed that a Governor that find it difficult to pay LAUTECH staffs their outstanding 9 months salaries could release N2.4 billion to fund a white Elephant’s Technical University. Oh my God, what a misplacement of priorities.

“To rescue Oyo State from the present predicament requires total overhauling of the existing arrangements where corruption and impunity are now the order of the day.

The party then declared that “For Oyo State to be great, APC must be voted out in 2019. Together we can and Yes we can Accordingly”

Accord described Ajimobi as the luckiest governor who only succeeded in squandering the state’s resources.

“Governor Ajimobi is the most lucky governor in the history of Oyo State having came in at a time the crude oil was at utmost high at the international market but he only succeeded in squandering the revenues accrued to the state from through federal allocations and IGR.

“What the APC led administration in Oyo State has to show for their 6 years are debts in excess of N200 billion apart from over N50 billion owing workers in the state. Oyo State under the present APC government is already having the characteristics of a failed state as government is finding it difficult to meet her financial commitment to her citizens.

“Refuse is littering everywhere in the state with attendant health challenges, the state Hospitals have become empty buildings without health facilities with unpaid health workers.

“It is a pity that nothing works in the state anyone since Governor Ajimobi took over the leadership mantle of the state.”
