BIG3 Basketball League 2017 Season Schedule and Full Team Rosters

Feeling withdrawal symptoms from not being able to watch professional basketball?

No worries. The BIG3, a three-on-three league packed with former NBA stars, starts Sunday in Brooklyn, New York, at Barclays Center.

The format is different than what you're used to with professional basketball. The obvious one is each team has three players on the floor instead of five. Some other interesting differences can be found on the league's website, including a four-point shot, how to clear the ball after a miss and the fact the game ends when a team gets to 60 points.

Long story short, it's a lot like the three-on-three basketball you came to know and love while playing at the park with your friends as a kid.

Another unique aspect of the BIG3 is the schedule. Instead of every team having a home court and traveling for away games, all eight teams will play on the same day in the same arena. And then the entire league will tour together, more like a band than a traditional sports league.

3's Company

3's Company may have the biggest draw of the entire league in Allen Iverson, an 11-time All-Star who won the NBA's MVP award in 2001. He's also 29th in total career points and seventh in career scoring average.

AI may be 42, but those accomplishments and the passion with which he played made him a cultural icon. Plenty of fans will be turning out to see him alone.

Killer 3s

• Captain: Chauncey Billups

Killer 3s captain Chauncey Billups is in an interesting situation. According to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, he's been offered a five-year deal to run the Cleveland Cavaliers front office.

If Billups takes that job, it'd be tough to continue to compete in the BIG3.

Tri-State

In an appearance on The BIG3 Show, Tri-State co-captain Bonzi Wells talked about how competitive the games might get.

"We're going to keep it G-rated hopefully," Wells said. "And if these guys get nasty, we can get it Rated R if we need to."

3 Headed Monsters

Jason "White Chocolate" Williams last showed up in an NBA game back in 2011. Since then, he's become something of a YouTube celebrity thanks to rec-league highlight reels like this one.

The three-on-three setting seems tailor-made for Williams' game.

Trilogy

Rashad McCants made waves recently with some comments he made to C Jackson Cowart of the Charlotte Observer.

"Without that situation in play, I'm a $60 million-70 million player," McCants said of his relationship with reality star Khloe Kardashian. "Easily."

He'll have a chance to back that claim up to some extent in front of a national TV audience.

Ghost Ballers

"I really do think we have a chance to win it all," Ricky Davis told HoopsHype's Alex Kennedy. "I've been getting myself back in tip-top shape, and all of my teammates have been working hard and getting ready too. Once we get on the court, we're going to be able to compete at a high level and get going."

Ball Hogs

"Everybody knows who each other is, and there will be camaraderie, but the competitive [edge] is not going to go away," Ball Hogs coach Rick Barry told For The Win's Adi Joseph. "They'll joke around beforehand. They'll joke around afterward. But from the time that game starts until the time it finishes, all of a sudden, friendships are no longer an important factor. Who's going to win is the factor.”

Power's Cuttino Mobley showed up looking like Uncle Drew in a Drew League video back in 2016. And that's not just a reference to the beard. The sweet-shooting lefty looks like he can still get buckets, which should come as no surprise to the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers fans who watched him during the 2000s.
