Abstract: Objective In order to develop and test reliability and relative validity of a basic knowledge questionnaire for acne patients.Methods Literature review,semi-structured interviews,specialist interview and consultant evaluation were used to draft the questionnaire.Reliability and relative validity were tested based on an investigation to 403 acne patients and the final questionnaire was developed.Results A total of 24 items within 5 factors were involved in the final questionnaire.Five dimensions were selected through explored factor analyses.The cumulative variance contribution rate was 53.907%,the content validity index was 0.961,the Cronbach'sα coefficients was 0.829,and the test-retest interclass correlation was 0.897.Conclusion The questionnaire is proved to be reliable and valid.It can be recommended for accessing the knowledge on acne for acne patients.
