A comparative study of mental health status in editors of medical journal

Abstract: Objective To explore the mental health status in editors of medical journal.Methods A total of 60 editors of medical journal were selected and assessed with Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90).Results The anxiety,depression,obsessivecompulsive factor scores,total score and positive item number of SCL-90 in the editors of medical journal were all significantly higher than the domestic norm (P < 0.05).In the editors of medical journal,there were no differences for the total scores of SCL-90 among differentgenders,marital status,ages and professional titles (P > 0.05) and there were significant differences for the total scores of SCL-90 among different educational backgrounds and job positions (P < 0.05).Conclusion There are problems of mental health for the editors of medical journal,which is correlated to their educational backgrounds and job positions.
