Abstract: Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of status epilepticus severity score(STESS) for judging the survival condition of patients with status epilepticus (SE).Methods PubMed,EMBASE,CBM,CNKI were searched to identify and retrieve relevant literatures referring to STESS from January 2005 to October 2016.QUADAS was used for quality evaluation of the literatures.Meta-analysis was performed by Meta.Disc 1.4 and STATA 12.0 software. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic odd ratio(DOR) and the corresponding 95% coincidence interval(95% CI) were obtained.Summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve was performed and the area under the curve(AUC) was calculated. The subgrouping capacities and sensitivity analysis were performed. Results Altogether 8 literatures including 9 studies and 1 029 cases were involved. The literature had non-threshold effect caused heterogeneity.Pooled sensitivity and specificity calculated by random effect model were 0.817 (95% CI 0.752-0.870) and 0.527 (95% CI 0.492-0.561).The DOR was 4.822 (95% CI 2.936-7.918);the SROC-AUC was 0.740.Conclusion STESS has a moderate efficiency in identifying the survival condition in patients with SE.It can be considered as one of the important references. However, more samples of larger and higher quality researches are still needed.
