BTS Passes Rihanna & Miley Cyrus for Third-Most Weeks at No. 1 on Social 50 Chart

BTS notches its 22nd week at No. 1 on the Social 50 chart, moving it out of a tie for third place in most weeks atop the chart.

BTS notches its 22nd week at No. 1 on the Social 50 chart (dated May 6), moving it out of a tie for third place in most weeks atop the chart. Previously, the K-pop act shared the distinction with Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. Only Taylor Swift (28) and Justin Bieber (161) have more weeks atop the list.

The Social 50 — which launched on Dec. 11, 2010 — is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Wikipedia, Instagram and Tumblr. The chart’s methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views and engagement. The chart’s latest tracking week ended April 20.

Among groups, BTS has far and away the most weeks at No. 1. One Direction has the second-most weeks in the penthouse, with eight.

BTS debuted on the Social 50 chart dated Oct. 29, 2016, and has never left the top two positions in its 28-week run on the tally.

In related news, BTS is currently nominated for top social artist at the Billboard Music Awards. The show will broadcast live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 21 at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
