Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of concurrent radiotherapy combined with hormonal therapy on the quali-ty of life in patients with advanced prostate cancer. Method 82 cases of advanced prostate cancer were included, and were stratified as control group (n=41) or study group (n=41) according to respective therapy applied. The control group was given three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, while the study group was given a combination therapy of con-current radiotherapy plus endocrine therapy (bicalutamide 50 mg, qd, and subcutaneous goserelin 3.6 mg, once every 28 d, 3 years);the maximum urinary flow rate, EPIC scores before and after treatment, as well as the incidence of complica-tions in the two groups were observed and compared. Result In 3 years after radiotherapy, the study group had a maxi-mum urinary flow rate of (13.67±1.68) ml/s compared with (11.03±0.98) ml/s in the control group (P<0.05);and the EP-IC scores were also higher in study group than control group (P<0.05);a significant difference was observed for the over-all incidence of complications during treatment between study group and control group as 41.5%vs 70.7%(P<0.05). Con-clusion Concurrent radiotherapy combined with hormonal therapy improves the physiological function in patients with advanced prostate cancer, with fewer adverse reactions and better quality of life.
