Team Faceless eliminates Clutch Gamers from the Manila Masters

With a quick and decisive 2-0 victory, Team Faceless managed to eliminate Clutch Gamers from the Manila Masters, securing their spot in the next round.

The second elimination game of the day would see two SEA teams facing off in hopes of moving forward to face OG in the next round of the lower bracket at the Manila Masters. Clutch Gamers have had little to no experience on the big stage but have made some fantastic showings of late. Standing in their way are one of the giants of the SEA region, Team Faceless. With elimination on the cards, neither team would be backing down especially with TI7 invites looming on the horizon for those who succeed in the coming months.

Game One

CG got off to a perfect start as they found first blood before the runes had spawned, dropping Toh ‘xy’ Wai Hong on the Bristleback. The early game saw a plethora of kills going both ways and with only 9 minutes passed there were sixteen kills on the board at 8 apiece. With thirteen minutes passed the first big team fight came out and while CG opened up with a kill on the Bristleback again, it was Faceless who managed to take down 4 from the Radiant’s line up, giving them a great lead in the game.

Faceless continued to keep their control on the game, pushing down tier 2 towers and finding great trades. With just twenty minutes passed and an aegis in hand for the Dire team, they moved up to the high ground in the top lane and dropped the melee barracks before moving out to take the shrines down. Ten minutes later, with another aegis in hand, Team Faceless ripped through the Radiant’s line-up and base, forcing out the GG, giving them a 1-0 lead in the series.

Game Two

The game started a lot slower than the previous with first blood only falling at 4 minutes and no opening of the kill flood gates either. As Faceless decided to play a bit more aggressively, CG looked ready to meet this as they found a good turn around fight in the mid lane to slow the aggression. With thirteen minutes passed, Faceless found the perfect fight and wiped CG from the map along with a tier 2 tower in the bottom lane.

But CG were not ready to give up as they suddenly came to life and found 3 quick kills to get them back into the game. But it seemed too little too late for the Radiant team as Faceless found an opening to secure an aegis before they dropped 4 from CG’s line-up. For a while the game settled down but after thirty minutes, with another aegis in hand, Faceless pushed the high ground and dropped all 3 barracks.

Just a few minutes later CG had no choice but to call GG meaning that they would unfortunately be eliminated from the Manila Master. For Faceless, they would be moving forward into the next round of the lower bracket to face OG.
