While the news waves groan with stories about “America’s Opioid Epidemic” you may discern that there is little effort to actually understand what’s behind it, namely, the fact that life in the United States has become unspeakably depressing, empty, and purposeless for a large class of citizens. I mean unspeakably literally. If you want evidence of our inability to construct a coherent story about what’s happening in this country, there it is.

I live in a corner of Flyover Red America where you can easily read these conditions on the landscape — the vacant Main Streets, especially after dark, the houses uncared for and decrepitating year by year, the derelict farms with barns falling down, harvesters rusting in the rain, and pastures overgrown with sumacs, the parasitical national chain stores like tumors at the edge of every town.

You can read it in the bodies of the people in the new town square, i.e. the supermarket: people prematurely old, fattened and sickened by bad food made to look and taste irresistible to con those sunk in despair, a deadly consolation for lives otherwise filled by empty hours, trash television, addictive computer games, and their own family melodramas concocted to give some narrative meaning to lives otherwise bereft of event or effort.

These are people who have suffered their economic and social roles in life to be stolen from them. They do not work at things that matter. They have no prospects for a better life — and, anyway, the sheer notion of that has been reduced to absurd fantasies of Kardashian luxury, i.e. maximum comfort with no purpose other than to enable self-dramatization. And nothing dramatizes a desperate life like a drug habit. It concentrates the mind, as Samuel Johnson once remarked, like waiting to be hanged.

On display in the news reports about the mystery of the opioid epidemic is America’s neurotic reliance on supposedly scientific “studies.” Never before in history has a society studied so much and learned so little — which is what happens when you resort to scientizing things that are essentially matters of conduct. It rests on the fallacy that if you compile enough statistics about something, you can control it.

Opioid addiction is just another racket, a personal one, in a culture of racketeering that is edging toward truly epochal failure, for the simple reason that rackets are dishonest, and pervasive dishonesty is at odds with reality, and reality always has the final say.

The eerie thing about reading the landscape of despair is that you can see the ghosts of purpose and meaning in it. Before 1970, there were at least five factories in my little town, all designed originally to run on the water power (or hydro-electric) of the Battenkill River, a tributary of the nearby Hudson. The ruins of these enterprises are still there, the red brick walls with the roofs caved in, the twisted chain-link fence that no longer has anything to protect, the broken masonry mill-races.

The ghosts of commerce are also plainly visible in the bones of Main Street. These were businesses owned by people who lived in town, who employed other people who lived in town, who often bought and sold things grown or made in and around town. Every level of this activity occupied people and gave purpose and meaning to their lives, even if the work associated with it was sometimes hard. Altogether, it formed a rich network of interdependence, of networked human lives and family histories.

What galls me is how casually the country accepts the forces that it has enabled to wreck these relationships. None of the news reports or “studies” done about opioid addiction will challenge or even mention the deadly logic of Wal Mart and operations like it that systematically destroyed local retail economies (and the lives entailed in them.) The news media would have you believe that we still value “bargain shopping” above all other social dynamics. In the end, we don’t know what we’re talking about.

I’ve maintained for many years that it will probably require the collapse of the current arrangements for the nation to reacquire a reality-based sense of purpose and meaning. I’m kind of glad to see national chain retail failing, one less major bad thing in American life. Trump was just a crude symptom of the sore-beset public’s longing for a new disposition of things. He’ll be swept away in the collapse of the rackets, including the real estate racket that he built his career on. Once the collapse gets underway in earnest, starting with the most toxic racket of all, contemporary finance, there will be a lot to do. The day may dawn in America when people are too busy to resort to opioids, and actually derive some satisfaction from the busy-ness that occupies them.

And no mention of the gang activity which promotes the distribution of Opioids either.

The large extended family I married into eons ago lost its family heroin addict last year. He will not be missed. He was taken from the homeless shelter he was living in to a hospital because he was not feeling good. Returned to the shelter a few hours later he had a heart attack and died.

Over the years he had ripped off virtually everybody in the family to pay for his habit, stealing guns, power tools cash and anything he could get his hands on. He burned all his bridges and as it turned out Eleanor Rigby had more people going to her funeral. I don’t think he even had a funeral.

Twenty years ago I had been given legal guardianship of the then young man along with Mrs. Dog when he was out on bail. That lasted three days before he skipped out and disappeared.

His life was an unbroken string of failed treatment attempts and petty crime and in that he was no different in that from the many other heroin addicts who grace Seattle with their presence.

I get that heroin is highly addictive and I agree that having no life prospects kills any desire to get the monkey off one’s back but my own feeling about long term heroin addicts is that they are selfish self-centered people who care not about the pain they inflict on others in their endless shenanigans of trying to get their next hit.

This is not the first time America’s Opioid Epidemic has been in the news nor will it be the last. Perhaps this time the brouhaha is meant to distract from Bill O’Reilly’s sexual harassments at Fox news, I do not know and I really do not care. Nothing will come of it.

Nothing will come of the opioid epidemic attention this time around and little effort will be invested to understand what’s behind the choices people make to live pointless meaningless lives.

The reason is that the American heroin addict actually embraces some very deep American core values which will not be discussed because they are sacred axioms on which we center our lives.

Selfishness and self-centeredness is the American way.

It is not the ‘American Way of Life’.

It is a symptom of addiction itself, which is a disease; perhaps of spirit and values, but also physical, for sure.

Opioid addiction is no different than alcoholism. No one is more destructive or narcissitic than an alcoholic….it just is more slo-mo.

        What a waste, for sure.

Selfishness and self-centeredness is the American way.”

As a non-US citizen who has lived for some time in the States (New Jersey) and travelled the country extensively, I have to say this is the first time I’ve seen an American put a succinct finger on what is missing in the American psyche – to put it simply, there’s no EMPATHY.

The selfishness & self-centredness is manifest in many small daily personal interactions (“I don’t know you so I don’t care about you at all, and so will not go out of my way to help you in the smallest way”) to the large ‘fuck you’ behaviour of giant corporate entities – banks that screw tiny people to add a few cents to the stock performance for the quarter, and politicians who will take the lobbyists’ $$$ and make laws that disenfranchise and sometimes even actually HARM their own constituents.

That’s not to say individual Americans have no empathy – I know many truly wonderful human beings who just happen to live in the empathy-free zone that is the USA of today

      SBPDL.COM,

Cities that are ‘politically correct’ will get blacker over time, even up North it isn’t safe.

      Demographic of Toronto
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Toronto

White (calculated by subtracting from visible minority)
      Year: 1996 > 2001 > 2006 > 2011
      % of pop: 62.7 > 57.2 > 53.1 > 50.9

      Black
      Year: 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011
      % of pop: 8.1 > 8.3 > 8.4 > 8.5

      Chinese
      Year: 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011
      % of pop: 9.3 > 10.6 > 11.4 > 10.8

The above is an extremely troubling trend. The NUMBER (but not ratio) of whites is probably the most accurate as helpfully filling out the census mailed to their homes is on the list of stuff that white people like to do. Local blacks would be underrepresented as they are renters who move more often, they represent most of the homeless population, AND there are a lot of refugees under the radar.

Note how the Chinese percentage have actually DROPPED too? This is bad news because Canada have an insanely high immigration quota of 250, 000 that has stayed the same since the 80s. This was alright when the immigrants were first Polish and ethnic Chinese from British Hong Kong (e.g. my family), this was still tolerable when the big influx was from Mainland China, where the people can be a bit rude but at least they work and don’t tend to commit rape. The bulk of Chinese population comes from the pro-natalist Mao years and there has actually been a steep drop in Chinese population since.

The Japanese population has always stayed at the stable 0.5 …and the Koreans rose from 1 to 1.4 probably because they were fearing North Korea and the draft.

So the new immigrants will come from Africa and the Middle East, Africans have 15 children on average and Middle Easterners tend to have around 5.

Blacks have a super high fertility rate, it’s not just that they start having sex early and often and irresponsibly don’t use condoms, it’s not just that they intentionally have children they can’t afford out of wedlock, it’s also because the ancestors of africans never interbred with the neanderthals. The ancestors of whites and asians were neanderthals and non-bantu-africans. Neanderthals have bigger brains, but also lowered fertility.

Neanderthal-human sex bred light skins and infertility | New Scientist
      https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22129542-600-neanderthal-human-sex-bred-light-skins-and-infertility/
Jan 29, 2014 – A handful of sexual encounters between humans and Neanderthals may have left people outside Africa with lighter skins, straight hair and …
//Neanderthals lived in Europe and Asia between about 200,000 and 30,000 years ago. Our species – sometimes dubbed “modern humans” – made it to Eurasia about 65,000 years ago, and so the two species had plenty of time to cosy up. In 2010, geneticists discovered that they had been very close neighbours indeed. They sequenced a Neanderthal genome and discovered it carried genes that also appear in the genomes of people of European and Asian descent: our species must have interbred with Neanderthals.//

LOL, “our species” and “modern humans” is Eurasians.

But seriously, I need to get out of Toronto, and stay away from Winnipeg too. Both Toronto and Winnipeg are cities that have gotten black police chiefs to deal with black crime.

How to tell you are in a bad neighbourhood: plenty of payday loan store, liqueor stores, little or none grocery stores, bars on storefronts, graffiti, weave store, footlocker.

How to tell a city is about to fall: black chief of police.

I don’t get why black police chiefs are hired to deal with black crime. If I was still in Hong Kong, I would want a white cop because the white cop is the one with the least likihood of having ANY connection to the local Triads mob. I bet even the good blacks are afraid of ‘snitching’ to the black cops.

The trend of having kids as a means of support exists among white women.
That demographic of very young black girls having babies has shrunk drastically, as well.
Having children without a husband is so much of a thing nowadays, we can’t really say it is what blacks do.
This is not a SJW post, it is just a statement of the reality I see with my own eyes, every day.

      • Elrond Hubbard April 28, 2017 at 11:08 am #

I live in Toronto too. Stop quaking in your boots. This is approximately the safest big city in North America and half the population was born outside the country. The immigrant population will do fine and so will everyone else, as long as Canada continues its longstanding practice of cultural inclusiveness and economic open-handedness. In other words, we cut immigrants in on the deal of being Canadian, instead of ghettoizing them and treating them as an underclass.

malthuss: “LOL, “our species” and “modern humans” is Eurasians.”

No biologist would agree with this statement. There are no two populations anywhere on earth so genetically divergent they can’t interbreed and produce fertile offspring. Everyone alive today is of a single species. Try acting like it.

JHK’s essay today is excellent as usual. It reminded me of what Mike Lofgren wrote in his book “The Party is Over” [2012]:

“Republican ideology celebrates outsourcing, globalization, and takeovers as the glorious fruits of capitalism’s ‘creative destruction’. When I was growing up in Ohio, both the cities and the small towns had a profusion of small- to medium-size manufacturing businesses. Now, thanks to this glorious creative destruction, most of them are gone – along with job security, a defined pension, and health benefits.”

But I am writing mainly about something else.

More than ever before, it seems impossible to know the truth about anything the government says or does. There are too many factions, too many opposing interests, and the plutocrats have finally taken over. They don’t want us to know anything. For instance, is there a serious connection between Trump and the Russians? Those who are wondering about that should read the article cited below. I am inclined to respect anything that Richard “running around with his hair on fire” Clarke recommends.

        Some blurbs for the article:

“Wow. This is the most detailed back story yet on Trump and his long history with the Russian mob,” Richard Clarke, former counterterrorism adviser to two presidents, Democratic and Republican, wrote on his Facebook page.

“The hottest story about Trump and Russia you never heard,” and, “The most fascinating new angle about the Trump-Russia-FBI angle,” exclaimed David Talbot, best-selling author and founder of Salon, in a column for the San Francisco Chronicle.

“If this report is to be believed — we really do need an independent investigation,” opined Andrew Tobias, financial expert and former Democratic National Committee treasurer, on his blog.

Yeah, it’s funny – perhaps because it’s so stupid and all wrong?

Those previous forms of man were superseded by something better in most cases. Obviously a Black Planet would be a huge step back. Luckily, their fertility in the West isn’t overwhelming and they get a lot of abortions. On the other hand, they’re being reinforced by healthy fast breeders from Africa itself. Beyond that, Black men are the most aggressive of all and are breeding with White women in large numbers.

Thwack caps his inanity by pretending Blacks are God and created Whites.

The point would be to move the needle. Any change that saves lives would be non-negligible.

The same principle applies to Wall Street, as Matt Taibbi noted: “You put Lloyd Blankfein in pound-me-in-the-ass prison for one six-month term, and all this bullshit would stop, all over Wall Street,” says a former congressional aide. “That’s all it would take. Just once.”

As on Wall Street, so in Washington.

We already have a situation where older brothers and sisters, perhaps even parents in a family, have never held a real job and the younger ones face even worsening prospects. see https://robertmagill.wordpress.com/2017/03/25/9-to-5-or-fuggedaboutit/

Jim, there’s no doubt that anomie, unemployment and despair play a big role in the opioid epidemic, but it has a clear proximate cause: pharmaceutical companies and their endless efforts to market prescription opioids via the compliant medical profession.

Chicago Accuses Johnson & Johnson and Others of Causing America’s Painkiller Addiction

    https://news.vice.com/article/chicago-accuses-johnson-johnson-and-others-of-causing-americas-painkiller-addiction

“The lawsuits accuse the companies of engaging in a 20-year-long conspiracy to increase sales of highly addictive opiates by endorsing, creating, and distributing misleading medical education materials, supporting “front groups” to publicize biased literature and studies, and essentially buying the opinions of respected doctors in order to manipulate medical opinion and promote the prescription of these drugs. The suits noted that the companies focused particularly on veterans, among whom prescription drug abuse has spiked precipitously in the past decade. Chicago’s suit also alleges that the companies defrauded the city by getting its health plans and other insurers to pay millions of dollars for the unnecessary use of opioids.” There’s your racket for you. (Emphasis added.)

For my sins, I once found myself thrust into a marketing job, which I both hated and was very bad at. But I learned something, namely: You chase the number. What’s that you say about side effects? Never mind, shut up and chase the number. Marketing is about coming up with one strategy after another to boost, goose, provoke and promote any and all reactions that will make the number go up, until you meet or exceed the quarterly nut handed down by management. A nation of addicted millions doesn’t factor in, because having scope to goose the numbers any way you need to is the single priority that everything else in the society is organized around. Capitalism is a revolutionary force.

I’ve been sewn up by the VA more than once. And the large bottle of vicadins, etc. that I was prescribed seemed a little excessive. I could see that they gave the stuff out pretty much like candy.

Last month the VA cut into me to remove a bladder stone. It’s like an old-fashioned hernia operation, six weeks to heal. I have three scars of that kind so I know what I am talking about.

They gave me 12 5mg oxycodone tablets to take home. That was enough. I have two left for the next toothache. So maybe they have wised up.

‘Jim, there’s no doubt that anomie, unemployment and despair play a big role in the opioid epidemic, but it has a clear proximate cause: pharmaceutical companies and their endless efforts to market prescription opioids via the compliant medical profession.’

It isn’t just about the ‘compliance’ of the medical profession. There’s information here about the pressures medics are under in the US to get good patient scores:

      https://www.forbes.com/sites/kaifalkenberg/2013/01/02/why-rating-your-doctor-is-bad-for-your-health/#19d52d3d33c5

A doctor gets good patient scores by giving patients what they want and not what they need. In a for-money system, which you have in the US, that’s particularly problematic, as the patient sees themselves as a paying customer as much as a patient.

Here in the UK, we don’t have filthy lucre involved at patient level, as treatment is free at the point of care, but in many cases people do have a ‘consumer/supplier’ outlook now towards their doctor which my generation didn’t have. This can be utterly demoralising for doctors, who are caught between over-demanding patients and clinical managers demanding the impossible.

An example would be (1) doctors shouldn’t be prescribing unnecessary antibiotics for the reasons we all know, but (2) you’ve got a demanding patient who wants an antibiotic for a self-limiting condition which absolutely doesn’t require one, but who will, if they don’t get what they want, write a formal complaint that will involve the doctor in three hours of unpaid work to deal with and justify their decisions and which will be included on the doctor’s internal annual appraisal (there’s also an external annual appraisal and a five-year revalidation process, so it’s endless). Everything the doctor prescribes is recorded electronically, so his/her prescribing pattern is laid out for discussion at the appraisal, in comparison with the service average relative to each medication – there are two conflicting sides to please.

The overprescription of opioid painkillers due to patient demand is well documented as a major cause of the current opioid epidemic in the US.

  9. Beryl of Oyl April 28, 2017 at 9:59 am #

Oh, wow. I wanted to come on to this site today, to see whether a personal tale I learned of yesterday would fit the topic of discussion.
    It fits to a tee.
A young woman I know of has recently gotten herself a new job. It is hard work, she had to go through some training to learn it, but she is anxious to better herself. This will be one of two jobs.
Now she wants to move from her present lodgings, and maybe find a place convenient to work (she does not drive). That’s what you are supposed to do, right? Walk or use public transportation.
The smallest apartments in the decent (no roaches, lower chance of getting shot at) buildings she can find, are somehow charging rents commensurate with what people with “good” jobs could have afforded in perhaps the 1970s. I think it is because the area she lives in has a glut of people still holding jobs in one of the rackets.
She, being a single woman without children, is not eligible for any sort of subsidized housing, and anyway, we are experiencing a lack of that because we’ve been importing people to live in it, leaving us with a shortage of such housing.
Her family probably has lived in this area for over two hundred years. Nowadays, I hear mixed messages in the media. On the one hand, buy local, ‘walkable’ communities, blah blah blah, on the other hand, contempt for people who choose to live where they grew up.
I happen to have some relatives who did the “right” thing, bought some education in the “STEM” fields, and moved to where the opportunities are. They haven’t ended up that much better off, long term, than this young woman is now.
The woman is black. She is not a male criminal, she is not a single mother, so the politicians, the bleeding hearts who derive their income from the ‘helping’ NFP rackets, and the armchair liberals have no interest in her. They likely don’t know people like her exist. They’ve moved on, anyway, to ‘helping’ adult male Guatemalans, largely by flapping their lips.
The social contract is broken. Main Street is a bygone concept. The Northeastern Liberal Elite idea of a walkable Main Street, is this time they went to the wine bar down the street on foot instead of driving the SUV they take everywhere else.

    I found this online, a young European business mans thoughts;

as a guy in my late twenties and owner of several businesses, I can safely say that it’s women. I’m doing okay for my age and have no problem getting women interested in me. But they just don’t add any value to my life in exchange for the time and money they cost me. Even the ones I used to date and who claimed they loved me were conditioned to pretty much hate men and entrepreneurship from early childhood.
They’d be nice to me in person and then vote for the government to steal more of my income and to basically make my job impossible. They are conditioned to think that they’re entitled to men’s time and money for free. They have been brainwashed into thinking that having children is some kind of slavery, which makes women from my generation pretty much sterile. I can predict 9/10 of a woman’s opinions on a first date just by the current media talking points. I really, really don’t see what I get out of dealing with women.
There is no return on investment.
I’m sure there are still women who do want to have children and raise a family, and who can think for themselves and who haven’t contracted too much feminism yet, but they are so rare I haven’t met a single one in my country.
I don’t know ALL women. But I know that a large enough portion of them have been conditioned to have an irrational hate for men, and that 1 out of 5 might completely destroy my life and ruin me financially.
If I ever want to start a family, I’ll move to a country where feminism hasn’t spread yet, or get a child through surrogacy or something.

There’s no reason for men to chase Western women, at least not here in Europe. They’re already married to the government and a man will just be a third wheel in that relationship.

What you are describing are conservative women, the kind who refused to vote for Hillary under any circumstance. They get their power from men who will fight for them, and make sure they get their proper respect, in exchange for sex. That is their compact. They run things from behind their men, steering their men with their joystick, like a computer game. If you buy into that, you’ll get the girl. If you don’t, you won’t even get a whiff, except to curl their nose up at you. Your options. Leave. Find a place that is less or not conservative, where women are not ruined.

Pretty well put, in this era of pigeon-holing everyone into one category or another we forget about those who just don’t give a rats ass. In the eighties and nineties it was important to categorize everyone’s sexuality, Heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, transsexual and the list goes on..well here’s an original thought…”apathosexual”… see, it’s original because spellcheck busted me.

The part in the article above which really touched a nerve was about those who would destroy his life and ruin him financially.

I managed a large apartment complex and stupidly got drawn into a little affair with a female tenant…a one night stand… a week later I hear she’s telling her friends about that night..and how she said “no”… Yep! she’s saying that it was Ra#pe.

If that allegation had gone public; it woulda been Bye,Bye sweet little management position, bye bye excellent apartment with the sweeping view, bye bye brand new F-150 every two years. All for a little piece-o-patch.. gotta stop now, ..my blood’s beginning to boil.

Well did she? Say ‘no’, I mean. Presumably in your account of the evening she said ‘yes’, but since that actually is the difference between rape and non-rape it’s not the kind of thing you can leave out.

Yep, she said “no’…and an hour later, when we’re both bare ass naked and juicy, she said ‘no’ again… by spreading her legs.. as far as she could, grabbing my junk and directing me inside. She even changed positions…wanna know what I think her motives were? I think she wanted to hurt somebody…anybody..anyway she could..maybe I should have given her a Hundred bucks. Fuk if I know.. I guess my first clue that there was something not quite right was the red hair…I mean copper penny red…like those brightly colored fungi in nature…after one taste, you’re dead.

You didn’t get ‘drawn into a *little* affair’. You saw an opportunity and you took it. You have agency. You’re an adult – you made a decision for which an adult would take responsibility. You people are part of the problem you berate other people for that you don’t happen to like.

He’s insecure. Having his ideal woman (if she exists) won’t ever fix that insecurity. Like most men who are insecure, he overcompensates by running several businesses where he is in charge. Running a family is not like running a business. Family comes first before anything else. He would have to sacrifice his business (sell one or all of them and get some kind of royalty payment) in order to start a family and give them most of his time and attention, especially the first 3 years of the child’s lives. It will take 5 years to establish his marriage, IF he believes in marriage. He might see marriage as just another business contract and see a wife as “partner” who could be anyone that meets the minimum qualifications (i.e. having a uterus and practical knowledge to not totally fuck it up) and may be fired at any time. I don’t think he believes in marriage and that’s a trend he’s seeing in EU society and resigned himself to following. He doesn’t think it’s worth fighting for, he’s given up already by advocating for surrogacy and “something” which could only be storing his sperm for later use, when he’s retired. His ideal woman might be someone who has stored her eggs for later use or the stereotypical trophy wife. Being a successful and ambitious business man has most likely made him into a conceited and arrogant misogynist; women are competition for jobs and money once they step out of their traditional role, he can’t hide these traits for very long. He’s more than likely had several affairs with several secretaries who are trying to keep their jobs in a highly competitive job market in order to get ahead in the company which is why he “doesn’t have a problem getting them interested” which could translate as ‘it doesn’t matter that he isn’t physically attractive’ to most women. That could be part of his overall insecurity.

      • Elrond Hubbard April 28, 2017 at 12:15 pm #

More than insecure, the “young European businessman” is totally egocentric. He conceives of his relationships with women in terms of satisfying his own needs, period. The idea that women are people with their own point of view and their own priorities strikes him as an imposition.

sharonsj is correct. If the young European businessman finds that every woman he meets has the same issues, he should keep in mind the one thing they all have in common: namely, the entitled guy they are dealing with.

      • Janos Skorenzy April 28, 2017 at 2:32 pm #

Once he did that, he would no longer be nearly as attractive to women. Every survey finds the same thing: women value money above all else when it comes to men. Some might choose power and prestige first. But there in the same neighborhood.

Women are tired of being treated like an investment, and many don’t want to be trophy wives. That could be the bussinessman’s problem.

As a 17 year old (1971), I couldn’t walk down the street for two blocks without honking and sexual shouting at me by men. I was groped more times than I care to count. 1 in 4 women are raped by men, hello! That was my first experience, date rape; ie, thinking that when women say no, they really mean “yes. more!” This, my dear men – and women, is why we had a feminist movement. Please don’t ever forget that! We need our good men to remember this!

It was not just pubic sexual abuse either. Women took a lot of physical abuse in their relationships at home. There is nothing on earth more depressing than having children, and your man comes home to hit you, and berate all you did that day, scaring the shit out of the children and traumatizing them! And you are stuck there, because you have no money! Because you depend on him. Believe me, you are happier alone and so are the kids. This is not a way for a man to be!

If you want more women to treat you with respect, please be a man who understands that women still need this kind of protection and respect.

Culturally, war is about rape. What do men have to say about letting their penises be used in war as a weapon? Do you ever hear men talk about that? Men don’t like it; yet they continue, and say nothing. Women need hereos, and until men step up to the plate, talk about how society treats them and how they are sick of that, you’ll probably get more sneers and bad treatment from women.

Let me repeat that: Men don’t like it; yet they continue, and say nothing. Women need hereos, and until men step up to the plate, talk about how society treats them and how they are sick of that…..
That is what feminist did; we spoke up. This meant big sacrifice for us to speak up. We lost loved ones; we were constantly denigrated in the media, and we struggled to get good pay or a job at all.

I am not seeing men sacrificing in this way! I am sorry, but I am not. if it is there, please inform me.

Yes, that denigrating behavior in public and in the home has gratefully calmed down in the last generation! However in Europe today refugees are streaming in from countries that never had a feminist movement, and who therefore still hate women – and their children – and sexually, physically and emotionally abuse them. This is very scarey situation, and we need our men to let them know that bad treatment of women – and therefore their children – is not ok.

The man who wrote this letter could see his own life in a larger social context, as well. That being, women were often used as the kicking post when the guy was struggling with work. So his complaining can come across as nothing more than that. Not saying what he is experiencing is bogus; just saying there is a far bigger context in which he lives.

And Ladies, if you have a good man, Love Him More! He is Gold.

      Thank you, Deborah

According to ‘The Dark Side of Mans’ author, rape is about
‘the poorest men getting sex,’ however in times of war
        that is a different story.

      • Janos Skorenzy April 28, 2017 at 2:37 pm #

Once women have domesticated men as they have in Europe, they no longer find them attractive. Thus they vote overwhelmingly to bring in dark skinned savages to replace their own men. Look as Sweden – the rape capital of Europe. SWEDEN IS RUN BY WOMEN. YOU CAN’T BLAME MEN FOR WHAT YOU VOTED FOR.

Women don’t know themselves. Typically they don’t want what they think they want. And Fifty Shades of Gray is a permanent best seller. They want to be owned and dominated by powerful men. I didn’t say treated horribly – that’s a side effect of their overwhelming passion to give themselves to the strong, in the case of Sweden, Muslim savages.

‘There is no return on investment.’

A man who looks at women as an investment on which he wants a return is not a man any woman should have anything to do with. The lack of insight of some people is gobsmacking.

I speak as one who left a useless husband decades ago, not because he didn’t provide a ‘return on my investment’ but because he was a useless husband and father (nothing to do with money). I bought his half of our equity, took over the mortgage myself and brought up my daughters with no help (he contributed the equivalent of $5/week for the two of them!!). They are now productive adults who don’t need to rely on men for anything, but are their equals and friends, as it should be in 2016.

I spent over a decade bringing my kids up (well) on my own and only then turned my attention to the possibility of having another man in my life. He’s a professional, but we live in my home because he incautiously tried to set up his own business in later life and lost everything but the shirt on his back. We are a partnership, but it’s me that put the roof over our heads, so endless crap about women living off men I can seriously do without.

Twenty years ago while I was the president of our County PTA (the wealthiest county in our state and number three in the nation) I warned our parents of the heroin epidemic that we were already well into. Being part of a law enforcement family, I was aware of what was happening at street levels while the schools and the media were still firmly in denial. Of course I was booed off the bully pulpit as a doomsayer, a buzzkill, and now, today as the denying masses and the prosecutor’s office have been forced to awaken to reality, there remains no solution. They have introduced a new “solution” called Narcan, which does wonders for the pharmaceutical industry as it allows them to case in “legally” on the abuse of the drug, but it now not only keep the junkies alive to repeat their mistakes, but compels them to do even more and in greater doses since the fear of overdose is now a thing of the past. Oh well, perhaps if we increase the premiums, the deductibles and the copays on health insurance for the losers that still have health insurance, the problem can at least be abated. Or not, but lets raise them anyway, ok?

No one likes a buzzkill, everybody hates the prophet or anyone else that calls for a stop to endless partying, consuming, or fornication but the fact shall always remain that those who refuse to heed the call for responsibility always crash and burn not only as individuals, but as entire systems and societies. I shall take no comfort in watching them all squeal when it fails, as it surely will, but I SHALL be comforted by the fact that I did not take part in the revelry. Quit Ye Like Men!

After completing a business deal in Moscow, my Associates broke out a case of small sampler bottles of the local distillery. The labels were in Russian so I couldn’t translate, simply toasted and imbibed.

Fifteen minutes later I feel like fracking Superman. What had been a cold, miserable, grey winter day turned into one of the best days of my life.

My associates had gifted me with one of the bottles which I showed to a bi-lingual colleague the next day…”Tincture of Opium” (Laudanum).

Unless your “Opiated Hash” story comes from the environs of Kathmandu or similar, you mighta been sold a “Bill of goods” forty years ago there was so many types of ‘specialty” items.

Just the Cachet of “Oaxacan Spears” or “Thai sticks” or “opiated hash” was all that was necessary to jack the price up for the dilettante. Not that I’m suggesting that you were a dilettante, I’ve just met so many.

And yes, I have smoked “Black Afghani ” hash on beaches in India, yes I have smoked “Oaxacan spears” in Mexico, yes I have smoked “David Herer” in Amsterdam.

I’m glad I don’t travel much any more..because I think about that day in Moscow..everyday…and that’s pretty much the only day from those times that I think about…except for all of the nookie,.. I think about that a lot too.

It is my belief that peer pressure plays a huge role in the problem. The young people today, and I still have two myself, are being indoctrinated by the Public School System to be obsessive Rule Followers. This mentality, once adopted in the individual mindset, is easily played upon once pressure to be part of the crowd is applied. There are far too many kids around here at least that at dropped off at pre-school care centers at 6:00 or 7:00 am and not picked up at night until 6;00 or 7:00 pm. Summers are spent at one or many camps or programs, and as I have watched these “parentless” children grow up over the course of the last twenty years, many of them grow up very, very angry. It is my experience that THE most important thing that a child wants from its parents is their attention. And it is also my experience that those that are denied this are far more likely to seek out diversions such as drugs to distract themselves from the depression of abandonment.

I tried it once – it’s cosmic. The Abyss of Divine Enjoyment as Thomas De Quincy said in “The Diary of an English Opium Eater”. The Genesis of the Man God as Baudelaire put it. The mind expanding aspect isn’t talked about as much now, maybe because heroin isn’t as good in that way as opium. Don’t know.

I got sick as a dog after a half hour of divine bliss. No doubt I could have worked thru it if I kept trying, but then I would have been addicted. I turned aside and took another path. But know: the pleasures of ordinary life are Nothing compared to these. Thus do men become monks in order to climb these heights naturally and return again and again at will.

Good one today – and let’s not forget that opioids, and drugs in general, are themselves part of a racket. Drugs are being pushed. I hear a lot more pitches from drug pushers via TV commercials than I do on the streets. The cognitive dissonance of listening to all the side effects they dutifully run down, is enough to make me want to take drugs!

it will probably require the collapse of the current arrangements for the nation to reacquire a reality-based sense of purpose and meaning

This references the podcast with Rocky R. when they talk about a major electromagnetic event that will discharge and render useless all our unprotected computer systems. None of the usual distractions will be there for anybody. So many things will fail at once and no one will have any plan for a work around that massive amounts of people will be heading for the nearest army base for relief.

It’s not so long ago that every airplane entering or leaving US airspace was grounded because all of sudden they were being used as missiles by radical Islamic terrorists.

Has anyone thought about all those hundreds of planes circulating above the clouds suddenly losing their CPUs and having to be manually guided down to earth? Someone might be making the decision whether or not to blow several 747s to bits before they have an opportunity to kill thousands of us on the ground. You might be getting an alert on your phone or car radio to head for cover until further notice.

President Putin’s preferred way to fly is on an elderly Ilyushin Il-62 because is is hack proof. It is unhackable because its controls are MECHANICAL and its navigation computers and autopilots are not linked to the outside so, there’s nothing to interface with.

It’s electronics are robust enough to withstand an EMP so, it can still be flown in a nuclear environment.

The collapse has already been underway for at least 36 years now. That’s when Ronnie Raygun first handed over the keys to the financial parasites. But not to vilify Reagan unnecessarily; it was probably inevitable anyway. The American public’s utter rejection of Jimmy Carter and his ideas that we should just maybe slow down, conserve, and at least consider recovering our national values were indicative of everything that’s happened since.

But I have a feeling that many of our kids will return the favor and let us do some of the paying as well before we all die off. I certainly wouldn’t want to live into my 80’s now and be dependent on government subsidies to pay the bills, cause the social safety net is simply not going to be there.

Ronald Reagan had a concrete task: to win in the Cold War, by making Capitalist system more attractive than Socialism. So he started to pump up consumer credit, turned on the printing press, keeping in mind that the Win in The Cold War would pay for everything and then some, after that return the economy to more sound foundation.

One thing he didn’t expect to happen – the Clintons.

        • DA April 28, 2017 at 12:07 pm #

The Clinton’s were mere harbingers of the globalists. In that sense, they too were inevitable. “Winning” the Cold war was actually the worst thing that could have happened to both the US and the USSR, as there was at least relative comfort in the stability of that arrangement. And now 25 years on, we’re right back in the same boat all over again, albeit without the stability. Or the common sense, apparently.

          • Janos Skorenzy April 28, 2017 at 2:57 pm #

The Cold Freeze of Communism acted to preserve culture as men were driven inward by the horrors of Communism. In contrast, the Warmth of the nascent Brave New World of Capitalism encouraged men to open themselves fully to its influence and divest themselves of all inhibitions – and culture.

Thus the ancient fable of the War between the North Wind and the Sun was enacted in our times. And the Sun always wins. Capitalism gets deeper into the psyche since men open themselves fully to it. And it truth, the Capitalists and the Bankers financed Communism. It was always their attack dogs, beserkers, and Janissaries who job it was to take down the Monarchies and the Fascist States. Capitalism itself will finish of the Democracies (so called).

Nixon hurt the country, Reagan destroyed it and Bush 2 made the rubble bounce.

As you say, Carter was right about the problem and we ignored him. Today we would lock him up. And as you say, it was all probably inevitable.

US missile shield aims to cover sudden nuclear strike against Russia – General Staff

The United States is pursuing global strategic domination through developing anti-ballistic missile systems capable of a sudden disarming strike against Russia and China, according to the deputy head of operations of the Russian General Staff.

There is an obvious link between Washington’s prompt global strike initiative, which seeks capability to engage “any targets anywhere in the world within one hour of the decision,” and the deployment of missile launch systems in Europe and aboard naval vessels across the globe, Lt. Gen. Viktor Poznikhir said at a news briefing on Wednesday.

    https://www.rt.com/news/386276-us-missile-shield-russia-strike/

The circumstance that no one pays any attention to. But should!

The fact that the Russian military was informed in advance of a missile attack on Syria excludes the participation of Russian military in repulsing this attack or warning President Assad about this attack – these were undoubtedly the conditions for warning.

    Except for one single option:

The Russian military were warned about the missile attack in order for them to prove the capabilities of the “Rubella” radio-electronic combat system.

That is, it was about the joint test of the capabilities of the latest combat systems for demonstration to the third parties of the predicted results of the combat use of the newest Tomahawks, which are a very important part of the sudden global strike, which Poznikhir described yesterday.

Consequently, Poznihier’s statement is a part of relatively peaceful determination of the results of the Third World War, initiated by Hillary Clinton.

I heard from a friend of mine that the reason politicians like Chuck Schumer are ‘solving’ the problem of opioid painkillers killing too many women, is because politicians like Chuck Schumer solved the other problem, doctors prescribing “too much” of Oxycontin or whatever, by making manufacturers put acetaminophen in the drug, so when the doctor prescribes what the government feels is too high a dose, it will kill women.
From what I’ve read, this appears to be true. The government fixed a problem drug by making it kill women who use it.
Men too, but it kills women easier.

All the complaints I see about black behavior in cities also applies to the poor whites I’ve seen while living in rural PA for the past 25 years. The only people I know who are still married to their original spouses are my age (in their 60s and 70s). All the younger generations have exes, legal and otherwise, and various kids, legal and otherwise. Few of those under 30 have decent jobs (there aren’t many jobs around here). Most people can’t afford rents thanks to the fracking industry, which is the only industry paying good wages, and said wages have driven up rentals. The result is expanding trailer parks.

As for the opioid epidemic, it’s here too. But the local healthcare system has cracked down on prescriptions. All that’s done is to make it unbelievably difficult for people like me, with physical handicaps, to obtain their own prescriptions. And the system (and my crappy politicians) refuse to help.

      Sound and valid observations.

Last year my wife had excruciating pain due to an abscess on her spine. Both us and them did not know what the problem was at the time, but the pain was very real and very painful to deal with for both her and me watching her. In every encounter with “the world’s greatest healthcare system” the nurses treated us like drug-seeking white trash until the doctors figured out what was going on. I will say that the doctors never treated us that way, but by the third visit I was getting quite cynical with the nurses. After it was all over and I wasn’t dealing with my wife in such pain, I was able to think more clearly and realize these nurses probably deal with drug seekers on a constant basis. I have concluded that just like our crappy political system, the people of the US have the healthcare system they deserve. What a pathetic lot we have become, and there’s plenty of blame to go around.

      • Beryl of Oyl April 28, 2017 at 12:14 pm #

I blame your wife’s bad experience, in part, on the willingness on the part of so many in our society today, to be a ‘narc’. By that I mean they are as bad as the East Germans behind the wall, in grabbing what little bit of importance they can derive from attaching themselves to the government, in some way, and laying down the law on their fellow citizens.
There’s a clerk in a Walmart who pursues vetting customers who wish to renew their fishing licenses, with the same vigor the TSA should be using to stop terrorists.
And what’s with the people lining up, on designated days, to hand over their unused drugs to the police? I thought they were concerned about chemicals getting into the environment at first, but no. They are being good little boys and girls. Maybe the police will give them a pat on the head.
Ever notice how many “news” stories at six o’clock are actually commercials for government control, in the guise of “safety”?

True, yet there is a difference. A poor White neighborhood is infinitely less dangerous for both Blacks and Whites. Not infinite of course – it’s a matter of degree. But the degree is very significant.

Marxism is simply wrong: not everything comes down to money. The Chinese come over in rags and end up as kings in two generations. And even when dirt poor, aren’t ever as violent as the Whites, much less the Blacks. The American Indians are the poorest group of all. Violent? Yes, more so than poor Whites, much less so than poor Blacks.

Face it: you’re wrong and always have been. You bought the lies told you as a young woman at the University and didn’t have the mental vitality to throw them off.

I never liked Trump and have never watched his “You’re fired” bullshit TV show, or any other reality programming. I figured we may have a chance if he stuck to a few of his guns, especially on immigration, the travel ban, NAFTA, etc. I now believe we are in a hopeless situation since he appears to be as stupid as I first assumed, or maybe its all going as planned. I don’t understand the logic of intimidating Russia. They could probably be our best friend on the planet. I have to mention in practically every post that the number one problem on planet Earth is overpopulation and no one seems to get it. No one with the power or means to do anything about it anyway. I had some issues with Perot also, but he was the only logical choice at the time. I was going to share another vignette of American life today, involving a woman in a supermarket at the dinner hour, with a small child screaming for a yogurt treat, but it sounded too much as if I was criticizing the woman’s mothering abilities.
That’s not what I intended, what I really want to say is that, even among the middle class, we are losing the ability to care for our children properly.
Those itty bitty servings of incidental yogurt with candy on top, are not a superfood.
Evidently, parents are being told that yogurt is essential to their child’s well-being. That stuff isn’t any better for them than say, ice cream. Ice cream and other dairy products have been demonized, where do they think yogurt comes from?
Anyway, yogurt has taken off as the antidote to the other food in the supermarket, not just for children. Does this make any sense? Aisles full of processed foods, and a growing section for the food that will save you from the effects of eating the processed food.
BTW, that processed food is labeled, by the government, as being nutritious, and pushed by the likes of Michele Obama, to our schoolchildren. Adding a carrot stick (a “fresh” vegetable) to an unwholesome diet is like pouring clean water into dirty water, and declaring it drinkable.
I’m in a position right now where I can buy and prepare most of my food from scratch, as well as afford luxuries like fruit. Working families can’t. They can’t visit the market on a daily basis either, when you have two people working ever changing schedules, and people working two or more part-time jobs, to make ends meet. People are forced to rely on the foods they can store long term and serve quickly. Then they get beat up on for not whipping up deluxe dinners with ingredients they can no longer afford.
Bernie Sanders, at a rally, was stirring up the crowd. He was objecting to the characterization of Americans as lazy, because as he correctly stated, Americans are some of the most hard-working people in the world. That got cheers. Then he said that because parents had to work such long hours, children weren’t getting the attention they need. Wuh? The room fell silent. I’m not kidding. Children need attention from their parents? You’d think he told them Martians had landed.

    • AHtheHumanity April 28, 2017 at 11:03 am #

Most children rely on the state to get fed because their parents do not have time or refuse to feed them. It was reported that it takes 1.20$ to feed one US kid one balanced meal. In India it only takes 10cents…but they can’t eat meat…only lentils for protein due to their sacred cows. Jamie Oliver analyzed American children’s cafeteria food and was appalled, advocating for real food and not frozen pizzas and mystery meats. He didn’t get very far.

      • Beryl of Oyl April 28, 2017 at 11:41 am #

I’m glad you mentioned JO. It seemed to me that just as Jamie started to gain some traction from his idea that kids should eat real food, our First Lady abandoned her “Let’s Move” campaign, as well as her garden, and started pushing the lunches provided by Big Agra, with a piece of fruit (mandatory) thrown in, to make it look “fresh”.
Michele used to work for one of the Big Food distributors.
And where was the Surgeon General, when it came to the problem of fat children? We are still blaming the victim, and still pushing the starchy diet that coincided with the rise in obesity. Why was an unelected First Lady the lead person on this issue?
        Doesn’t it matter?

Ivanka mentioned families and the sterilized german female worker insects hissed at her. They’re hating her for the wrong reasons and not the right ones.

One time at the Socialist Philosophy Club I mentioned that everyone wants to shine in some kind of way. Blank looks. That truth doesn’t fit it with us all being identical worker insects. Yet all of them will try to stand out and get ahead nonetheless – just not honestly.

Did you read my re-post from the young businessman in Europe?

        • thwack April 29, 2017 at 7:05 am #

          No,

I saw some photo of her; a head shot, and maybe it was the angle, but her neck seemed to have quite a bit of length to it?

I don’t think it was photoshopped either because it wasn’t a glam article of any kind.

I would need to see her naked in order to determine if her neck is consistent with the rest of her body parts because it should be part of a pattern.

          • Janos Skorenzy April 29, 2017 at 2:54 pm #

Yeah she has a weird asymmetrical body. Not unpleasing of course. She had some work done on her face – got her Jewish nose fixed early on.

          • thwack April 29, 2017 at 8:48 pm #

            No,

her body is not asymmetrical; its just that a long neck often corresponds with lengths of other body parts.

Ann Coulter has a long neck too; but she is all around long and lanky.

My wife and I eat four apples per day. I have had the conversation with many produce men about the inconsistency of produce that often the oranges are dry inside, the peaches taste like cardboard and even the most consistent apples can be soft and almost mealy. I have pointed out that the most consistent things are donuts and that if one purchased a package of donuts that tasted in reality like garbage compared to being advertised as a sweet donut that one would be back in a heart beat. And one apple or one orange at $1.99 per pound is not cheap, but how many times have you just thrown away “bad” fruit.

It rests on the fallacy that if you compile enough statistics about something you can control it. – JHK

Yeah, there’s that, as JHK sez. But it’s also no secret that the social sciences are infested with practitioners of left-ist or “progressive” bent. Just try to find one of them admitting to being a Republican or conservative. It’s not bloody likely because to admit it is to court career suicide.

So there’s many questions that attend, like whether such conformity in political ideology doesn’t result in echo-chamber theorizing, like whether studies are conducted objectively and dispassionately, like whether “experts” collecting the data have ideological or political axes to grind, like whether methodologies are howlingly full of shit and whether or not resulting numbers and narratives are therefore worth a damn.

    • DA April 28, 2017 at 12:16 pm #

Good points all. Science is driven by funding, which is driven by political ideology. Took them thirty years to finally admit the cholesterol and dietary fat hysteria was all bullshit, and even now, they’re only grudgingly admitting it.

      • cbeard April 28, 2017 at 12:31 pm #

When I tell anyone about that cholesterol, dietary fat farce they think I’m nuts and tell me how wrong I am. The medical establishment in my community still preaches the low cholesterol myth. I just told a cardiologist that I would not take statins and he stormed out of the room furious. Fuck him.

I have been on a HFLC (high fat, low carbohydrate) diet for quite some time now. Not only have I lost weight, some chronic and painful conditions I suffered from for years have been dramatically alleviated.
I am not eating less than before. I am not exercising more. I always did watch what I ate, and I always did exercise.

I had several Deschutes Pine Drops IPAs last night. Personally, I think they’re highly underrated at only 88 overall and 80 for the style. Don’t know what they did for my cholesterol, although I’m quite certain (it got a little foggy toward the end) that the thought never crossed my mind.

My practioner told me I was stubborn for not taking statins. I wanted to say, “Yes Mother” but I remembered we did not have heart problems until everyone started eating ole0, margarine and “you think it’s butter, but it’s snot” instead of actual milk and butter. Eggs are another food we have prospered on for eons. The real problem is inflammation in the arteries and veins. Cholesterol is a bandaid your body makes naturally to keep the inflammation from getting worse. Avoiding the inflammation lowers “bad” cholesterol.

Vigorous aerobic exercise i.e. 300 calories minimum per day is a fine way to get total cholesterol below 200.

HDL goes up some but the genetic predisposition keeps mine below 40 even with robust exercise. LDL held in check with exercise regimen.

The statins have a funny side effect: Rhabdomyolysis which is destruction of muscle tissue. The poison just made me weaker and made my muscles hurt.

Get your butt on a treadmill and watch some of that other powerful narcotic and national drug -TeeVee – while getting your cholesterol under control.

Well, when you get a bad tooth, you must use the string and the doorknob, because that X-ray machine and Novocain at the dentist’s office are obviously boondoggles, nothing but a ripoff.

You are just envious of those who have worked hard to learn a difficult field of study while you took an easier way. But if you are what we might call a scientist, you don’t deserve the title. Or the funding.

People like you elected Trump. I am beginning to understand why many of the Founding Fathers wanted government by aristocracy. But their idea of what it meant to be an aristocrat was the problem. There never has been and never will be anyone who fits the bill.

I’m kind of glad to see national chain retail failing, one less major bad thing in American life.
    ==============================================
Let’s not forget, though, that big-box retail stores are being replaced by mega-corporate scale online retail. This will only continue, of course, as long as the trucks keep running; as long as there is electrical power for the computers; and until there is collapse of the financial system.

This is a back to the basics blog post, JHK. Excellent work!

I keep hearing on the evening news, that Americans don’t want to shop at “bricks and mortar” stores.
That is absolutely false. If we shop online, it is only because the stores quit carrying the merchandise we want to buy.
If you read the reviews that often accompany online clothing sites, you see that women are frustrated with the amount of time and money we have to waste, buying a particular garment, guessing what size will fit, returning the garment, finding out that a different color in the same garment you already own was manufactured in a different Third World country, so it isn’t the same size or even the same fabric as the other one you bought, etc.
I think they want us all online so they can monitor every single purchase we make, and force us away from using cash, among other reasons.

“All buying and selling with the ‘help’ of a computer.”

          What about enjoying music?

I was rewarded recently for 15 years of service and devotion to my employer. I got to choose a gift from a catalog of ‘stuff’ that came in the mail. I was seriously leaning towards the binoculars, but instead chose a turntable (or “record player”).
It showed up on my porch a couple of weeks later, and I must say, it has been a joy to have. I have a collection of LPs that I haven’t listened to for a while, and reconnecting with the music therein has been delightful.

But, as an unexpected bonus, it occurred to me that when I want to listen to music, I just throw a record on the turntable,
drop a needle on it, and Bob’s your uncle! I don’t have to fire up the computer, don’t need an app, no thumbs up/ down, nobody’s keeping track of what I’m playing (unless this record player belongs in the Internet of Things category). Don’t need to go before the ‘priest’, hat in hand, to see if he’ll allow me access to the WWW deity.

And the artwork on the LP jackets is pretty cool, too.

How in the world did Jim’s Blog that focused on the economic deterioration of his region and the opioid epidemic; deteriorate into a discussion of race and sexism? I work with people who are prescribed medications and alternatives to medications to deal with their chronic pain to help them not become addicted because people want to be “pain free” this is what drives opioid and other addictions in our society. The “Physician” that’s been given the power in our society doesn’t know how to “treat” the patient. He now admits that the role (of governing) is “much tougher (more difficult) than he thought”. The pain of our society is going to be treated by someone who may be willing to kill the patient so he can say that he “tried”. They didn’t have the “will” to live” its their fault they wouldn’t listen to me or follow my directions(even when his directions are totally incompetent).

I grew up in a community like that in the south. My grandfather owned property on a nearby lake and sold waterfront lots for $500-$1000 in the 50s and 60s. People built small cabins or put mobile homes on these lots and dug wells and septic tanks. The road leading in was gravel and clay and impassable after a rain storm. There were farms with cows, barns and fishing ponds nearby. Small businesses got by on the locals by selling everything from fishing line and bait, to animal feed and gasoline for outboard motors. I remember spending weeks there in the summer and believed it was a slice of Heaven.

A few miles away life was different. On the other side of the hill from the lake there were rows of negro tenement and share-cropping shacks with no in-door plumbing, running water and no electricity. The big farms nearby had long since shut down (probably in the 1920s or 1930s) so the black families there depended on the whites for employment, but it was not without cost. They did the jobs no one else wanted to do like cooking and cleaning for the white families.

There was no healthcare to speak of because there were not doctors and no hospitals. If these poor blacks got sick they died. If they got out of line and asked for equal treatment in the form of education, job training, healthcare and the basic necessities of life (or even just decency and respect) their homes and their churches were burned at best and they disappeared at worst.

Yes, life was more idyllic in those days if you were white, Christian and male. I wonder how many Negroes worked alongside whites in those mills beside the river.

    • Beryl of Oyl April 28, 2017 at 11:51 am #

I see a lot of Negroes living not so idyllically today.

Not for lack of government largess.

What do you see? And where?

    • Janos Skorenzy April 28, 2017 at 3:16 pm #

Whites naturally create idyllic societies. Others do not, Negroes least of all. Of course everyone wants in on what we have, if only to destroy it. Negroes most of all. But make no mistake, if other groups are allowed in they will destroy it one way or another, if only inadvertently. They just don’t create idyllic societies.

      • thwack April 28, 2017 at 5:08 pm #

If Europe was so good and “idyllic”, why did you leave it?

        • Janos Skorenzy April 28, 2017 at 8:50 pm #

We needed the room. So we made more Europes. Europe is wherever we are. Likewise, wherever you are is Africa. That’s why you want to live with us – to get away from Blacks.

          • windward April 29, 2017 at 12:00 am #

Janos’ worst nightmare is the fact that we all descended from black-skinned Africans, who all descended from tree-dwelling apes. And the tree dwelling apes descended, ultimately, from the primordial slime.

Science is wonderful. And it has driven Janos insane, as his posts indicate.

          • Janos Skorenzy April 29, 2017 at 1:15 am #

There’s no proof that Negroes are the original form of Homo Sapiens, much less any earlier form of man. If we arose in Africa, then yes, dark skin. But dark skin alone don’t a Negro make. Dig?

“If we arose in Africa, then yes, dark skin. But dark skin alone don’t a Negro make. Dig?” — Janos

            *************************

Im glad Janos said this (again) because what he is demonstrating is the reason racism = white supremacy. This “negro” he continues to reference is both a cartoon and a very real caraciture of his own existential angst; but the key is to keep the definition based on his agency.

In other words, for a racist, the term “negro” = “I decide.”

This is why racists logic lacks rationality, coherence and logical consistency; the only thing that matters to them is their power to DECIDE.

A “negro” is whatever Janos decides it is at the time he makes the decision..

This proclivity is a characteristic of all racists; so the only question you should really ever be asking a racist is:

            “What is a white person?”

A racist will never admit the truth which is “its whatever I decide it is.”

This is why racism = white supremacy

            and

            and

why white supremacy always eventually results in white fratricide.

And before you take someone’s land and make it your own, you have to conquer them. Usually that’s how it works, anyway. America has been given to the 3rd World without a shot being fired – and that is confusing you. But the Law hold: we’ve been conquered from within and the victors can do whatever they want – including giving America away.

What galls me is how casually the country accepts the forces that it has enabled to wreck these relationships. – JHK

Galls me too. To say the least. But these “forces” aren’t really “forces” in the sense of gravity or tides or ocean currents.

The wreck of such a large swathe of the United States happened as a result of the efforts of a handful of very wealthy people working hand-in-glove with American and other national governments over a long period of time. The disaster that took shape happened under the acquiescent gaze of multiple presidential administrations and elected lawmakers. Did you hear a peep from the White House about the unfolding calamity? From Congress? From the Senate? I didn’t.

All of the above were active or complicit. Ross Perot warned us, so did Pat Buchanan and others. Some say there was no conspiracy. OK, so find me a better word.

Ross and Pat were laughed at but they were dead right. Still are. When Tom Rogan rhapsodized on the now cancelled TV talk show The McLaughlin Group about the beneficent effects of globalization, Pat Buchanan asked a simple question, “what about the American worker?”

Well, what about the American worker? And what about the multitude of cities and states that were ruined along with American workers and their families? The Davos set gutted America and built China into a military rival and world power. Epochal stupidity at work here and treachery and treason. No other way to put it.

I just read an article in one of those self important east coast magazines about the last election. There they talked about unskilled White Americans that voted for Trump. The writer evidently used the term “unskilled” as a pejorative. Why? So as to invalidate the results of November 8. If it wasn’t Russian meddling, it was “unskilled” and, by implication, ignorant people that committed this act of political vandalism.

I wondered whether the writer had ever dirtied their hands working in a factory. I sure have. So did my dad and many relatives. And I can tell you that nobody that works in such places survives in them long term as “unskilled”. A factory has a multitude of systems ie hydraulic and electrical powered mechanisms, that have to work in concert to move and process materials and physical objects. Everyone working in such a setting has to know his place and how the systems work in his corner of the facility. There’s no way out of it, you depend on others and others depend on you, you need to trouble-shoot, you have to monitor and physically operate the machines. Even with the much talked about “automation” as the fall-guy for job-loss, the machines doing the work have to be monitored and adjusted so products come out within required tolerances.

Factories were never places for “unskilled” people. They need a level of engineering skill to organize and build them plus a multitude of workers with trade certifications. Even people without trade papers had to learn on the job and acquire a high degree of skill and knowledge and produce results. I know this because I saw it and did it. But this is just to illustrate the depth of class bigotry that you get towards people in fly-over country.

“Unskilled” my ass. First they destroy America, then they insult the people they destroy.

      V.,
Galls me ‘three’, and it’s why I have no use for these fucking “opinion shapers” and blabbermouths whose only “skill” is flapping their gums.
I don’t know of any pundits that can use a transit to read a grade and determine depths and pitch of NECESSARY underground piping systems. Ask any of these “smart guys” where and how deep their septics are; bet they never even thought about it… until the system FAILS. (They just load the crapper; flush it on down, and, voila!-magic!, the unmentionable disappears.) Then they are going to need some ‘unskilled’ asshole (such as myself) to diagnose, locate and fix it for ’em. It’s like everything in all systems these days: out of sight, out of mind; the less you know, the less there is to maintain or worry about. *However* it has no bearing on how well any particular system continues to function; no maintenance or due diligence and it sure-as-shit is going to go to pieces, given enough time.

First place to purge? Madison Ave. and it’s evil spawn: The Think Tanks. Please people, wait until they’re having a meeting of the cigar-chompers and rare liquor-swillers. Leave the poor bastards in the street and fast-food customers alone. What have THEY ever done to you?

(You might guess that I really hate to be told what and how to ‘think’.)

Trade skills and put the consent manufacturers out of business. Southern Man; Northern Man; Eastern Man; Western Man; Heartland Man — Don’t need ’em around anyhow. We know what needs to be done and how to do it.

But they did elect Trump. Even if they have other useful skills, they have no political skill. Don’t blow a gasket. I have been a member of several industrial unions and know about factory work and workers. I am also a veteran, how about you?

“Let’s give the high muckety-mucks the finger.” That’s all it was. This is real smart thinking in their minds. Talk about destroying America. How do you think we got Hillary Clinton? They have been doing it to themselves and the rest of us since at least Reagan time and probably always. You know who I mean by “they.”

And when their man gives them the shaft, as he is already doing, they will blame it on somebody else. One necessary skill for most of us is the ability to lie to oneself night and day.

It’s interesting how the movers and shakers behind globalization cherry-pick the convenient parts of classical “comparative advantage” economic theory of the 19th century to justify their relentless push for “free trade”.

The theory says that international trade is not a zero-sum game, that both all sides in international trade will be better off than they would be without trade. To achieve this result, each country specializes in what they do best and trade for other stuff from other nations that they produce best.

However, it was assumed, when the theory was conceived, that the investors in nation “A” and nation “B” would invest in the production of what their nation did best AT HOME. It was naturally assumed that they would be good, patriotic capitalists and do their investing in their own country- not that they would act as unpatriotic traitors and move their cash to the lowest wage country they could find, national loyalties be damned.

Today, we are cursed with a ruling class of global capitalists. So-called “free trade” deals assume that capital is stateless and agreements are constructed to, first and foremost, facilitate the movement by capitalists of their investment dollars to the lowest-labor-cost production country. The societal damage caused by the destruction of jobs in their “home” nation isn’t even part of their equation. Now, we have pressure to enter “free trade” agreements with countries like communist China (!), the strategic national enemy of the West. Talk about cold-blooded traitors.

Whenever proponents of free trade say “we’ll be better off” with a deal, think about who the “we” is they’re talking about.

Beryl, you’re right, kids need attention and I’ll be damned for saying it but being a mother of two kids and taking care of a household is full time work if you do it right. I know it because I come from a two parent household and I saw my mother do it.

Day care? Back then, it wasn’t done. I didn’t know any kid in the neighborhood or school who went to day care.

I’ll be damned for saying this too, never mind this “heroic single mother” stuff, kids need their daddy. Hang on, I’m not done. It would have been a disaster to go without our dad because he kept the wheels on for decades. That steady paycheck made everything else work. But, having said that, when kids are small, they want and need their mothers more. I don’t think it was just me. I think it’s hard-wired in everyone. That’s just how it is.

As far as cooking goes, bad health is one consequence of not having time to cook properly. We grew up on typical, home-cooked, post-war food and yes, including those dreaded jello dinners (I thought they were ok). Try to find moms nowadays that cook 21 weekly meals.

The day may dawn in America when people are too busy to resort to opioids, and actually derive some satisfaction from the busy-ness that occupies them. –JHK

Pretty low bar. “Jesus is coming! Everybody look busy!” Sad actually. Busy-ness? Really?

It was the busy-ness of the empty alcoholic lives of the racist dead domestic violence-ridden 1950s that gave rise to the Beat and counter-culture movements: tune in, turn on (OM!), drop out… How to turn on? Not with drugs… but with meditation instead… Celebrate being… with meditation (which is Being … NOT doing)… and the joy is beyond words, better than drugs, and costs nothing.

    Janet

(not busy at all and happier than ever)

    • Jigplate April 28, 2017 at 2:38 pm #

I think what JHK was referring to was the “busy-ness” of survival. In his future “world made by hand” Those who are apathetic about living will tend not to.

Jim, this post is one of the best of yours that I’ve seen in a very long time. You succinctly described the issue beautifully such as when you say, “They do not work at things that matter”. I’ve now reached the age where I can look back over a long time frame, and I remember one of my first jobs, an office job that was a soul-killer. I wouldn’t accept that and got out. My point is that this has gone on a very long time – my job was almost 50 years ago.

And I’m sure you know that the drug issue has been with us for thousands of years, although now it has turned into a near-pandemic. A person can only take so much physical and psychic pain before they seek relief. When society’s values turn meaningless, escapism becomes rampant.

My question is, what are the causes of this change of values?

    • malthuss April 28, 2017 at 1:58 pm #

Few of those under 30 have decent jobs (there aren’t many jobs around here). The ( ) explains the first part.

Most people can’t afford rents thanks to the fracking industry, which is the only industry paying good wages, and said wages have driven up rentals. The result is expanding trailer parks.—Yikes.

During his 4 years there, my wife and I would choose a different “country road” route on each of our trips to retrieve him – as much to avoid the stunning monotony of the Interstate , as to avoid the toll. Much of upstate NY I have found, is a curious dichotomy- like a Currier and Ives print populated by the denizens of an apocalyptic wasteland.

Apparently he got hooked on oxycontin and then went to heroin when he started running out of money (he lost his job). Well, they found him face down in the dirt with guck coming out of his nose, DOA.

Everyone was wailing and crying at the funeral over the tragic demise of this once promising 28 year old. But then a couple of blonde bimbo narcissists in high heels and tight skirts walked down the aisle and the male pallbearers gawking and salivating.

What’s wrong with Kim letting Washington know that he will fight back against neocon aggression and not surrender his country to the banksters?

Unlike the U.S, the Kim dynasty never sold out its workforce, never peddled cultural filth to its people, or started wars around the world. The DPRK is one of the very few nations not under occupation by the Rothschilds. Hence the intense demonization. Jamahiriya Libya was once sovereign and its people enjoyed benefits that Americans could only dream of. Not any more. Gaddafi and his crew were reasonable with how much they stole. Just try and tell Amerika’s plutocracy to take it easy on the stealing! They regard it as their inalienable RIGHT to steal from us!

[QUOTE] “Netanyahu in Fink’s Bar in Jerusalem al-Quds in 1990……. “If we get caught they will just replace us with persons of the same cloth. So it doesn’t matter what you do. America is a Golden Calf and we will suck it dry, chop it up, and sell it off piece by piece until there is nothing left but the world’s biggest welfare state that we will create and control. Why? Because it’s God’s will and America is big enough to take the hit so we can do it again, again, and again. This is what we do to countries that we hate. We destroy them very slowly and make them suffer for refusing to be our slaves.”

Kim may not have the latest military toys but, the DPRK has the force multipliers of racial homogeneity and organic cultural cohesion. The people of the DPRK are disciplined and will outfight and outlast any American force that attempts an invasion.

America’s demonization of life in the DPRK rings very hollow and dissonant when JHK presents an equally gruesome diagnosis of life in gynocentric, anomic, post-industrial, post-modern Amerika.

The U.S had 7 decades to sign a peace treaty with North Korea; but chose to jack off instead.

NOW all of the sudden we’re told the Norks are some big existential threat that must be dealt with immediately?

        Im not buying it.

Jim in Florida is correct; the U.S cannot tolerate any nation not based on gold chains, drumbeats and pussy; thats why Iran is also in the globalist cross hairs.

In general, the East Asians are doing pretty well. If Donald Trump decides to start a war over there, maybe they should all turn their guns on him?

The almost total destruction that General Curtis Lemay visited on North Korea during the Korean War – more tonnage dropped than during all of WWII in the Pacific, killing millions of Koreans – is burned into the national psyche of N. Korea. They are determined never to let it happen again. Push Kim and expect a shit storm back.

This level of national trauma also explains the Russians’ obsessive preoccupation with defense against shit threatening them from beyond their western borders. The last time madmen came from that direction, they lost about 26 million soldiers and civilians. NATO’s aggressive pushing directly against Russia’s western borders is reckless madness.

A bit of empathy goes a long way in explaining your adversary’s motives and behaviors. I don’t expect much empathy from the current White House.

Predictable as ever…TRUMP IT UP! TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP…

  42. FincaInTheMountains April 28, 2017 at 6:03 pm #

That is, it was about the joint test of the capabilities of the latest combat systems for demonstration to the third parties of the predicted results of the combat use of the newest Tomahawks, which are a very important part of the sudden global strike, which Poznikhir described yesterday.

Third parties are the part of the American and European elite – who are NOT members of ODESSA – who hope that the United States can win the nuclear war after dealing Russia a sudden nuclear strike.

Members of ODESSA you can not convince of anything of course, but there are also useful idiots and I guess that Trump feels that he could convince them by demonstrating the work of Russian Rubella vs Tomahawks of 2015 year of production in real combat conditions, and will be able to attract them if not to his side, then to the side of their own instinct of self-preservation, since there is obviously not enough fallout shelters for all useful idiots.

And there is no other way to convince them of this, except for such demonstration or a real atomic war, which I personally would like to avoid.

The work on their conviction was carried out not only and not so much by the Russian General Staff’s department for public relations, who very poorly informed the world community about the missing cruise missiles, but the Clintonoids (ODESSA) themselves.

They needed to convince their useful idiots that, despite the bombing of Syria, Trump still needs to be arrested, since the bombing was of a contractual nature. And the stupidity with which they did it, just convinced me more than anything else that Hillary is already pushing up the daisies.

But the way this performance was played convinced me that Trump initially did not want to play it, because he understood that this action would strike a terrible blow to his reputation.

But the fact that tomorrow he will meet the end of his first 100 days not in a prison cell and lost only 3% of his voters, says that the demonstration was successful.

Further demonstrations of this fact, which are not accompanied by an increase in the radiation background, must be absolutely supported.

These demonstrations are necessary in order to convince the useful idiots of ODESSA in the need to withdraw offensive weapons from the Russian borders, since in this situation any attempt by Trump to withdraw troops from Russia’s borders without preliminary and appropriate demonstration will at least lead to his impeachment.

But Putin’s statement that the object has ripen, says that he does not assume Trump’s arrest as a result of such statement.

And he is a much more informed person than I am, and this shows that Trump does not need to repeat the demonstration in Korea, that is, that the demonstration was quite effective.

But the anti-Korean campaign, colorfully describing the results of the nuclear bombing of American cities by the bloody dictator Kim Jong Un, can certainly lead to undesirable and extremely sad consequences, but so far it has increased the effectiveness of the Syrian demonstration, supplementing it with extremely important information about which useful idiots of ODESSA have been forgotten for the past 30 years.

The ODESSA network (from the German: Organisation der Ehemaligen SS-Angehörigen, meaning: Organization of Former SS Members) was a purported international Nazi underground organization set up towards the end of World War II by a group of SS officers with the aim of facilitating secret escape routes – later known as ratlines – to allow the SS members to avoid capture and prosecution for war crimes and to escape to Argentina, Brazil, or the Middle East under false names

Just another palliative for a very sick world that Junk is. Used to hear it called Horse too.

Knew a now-dead soul who used it and got used up….one cooked spoonful at a time. Reused needles too. WHy? The bastard could have afforded brand new sterile and fresh — but nope it was all part of the liturgy that believers had to engage in. Worship at the Temple of Morpheus.

A symptom for the time/space we occupy, which, as JHK rightly points out, is filled with a vacuum. Empty and void as an interview with Kim Kardashian. Bereft of anything but the moment and escape from its concrete grip. Have another tattoo if you have a patch of some blank skin to use. Did you watch everything on your TeeVee’s 500 channels last evening? How about some power shopping down at the mall – great fun right there. Too cold outside? Just cozy up to your computer and let your fingers dance the night away on the QWERTY keys and shop shop shop. OK you had enough of shopping. I get it. NOw go check on that way sexy porn — all for “free.”

Yeah, that’s why people shoot up. Life can be so tedious, boring, anomie inducing. Gets them out of town, at least for a little while. No TSA lines to go through, no passport necessary. Just a friendly travel agent (drug dealer) who can provide one with a vacay that Disney can’t yet compete with – but will try to with Virtual Reality.

Since the epidemic is absolutely related to purposelessness then I would submit that when the robotics and Artificial General Intelligence revolution hits (seven – 13 years) the shores of human civilization epic tsunami like, and erases the normal human functions of relationships, work, community; then the Hell of utter uselessness will require even stronger drugs than opioids currently in use.

Not to fear! I understand our great pharmaceutical companies are standing by with some really fantastic new-fangled painkillers. Although I would like to see a return to classic barbiturates, quaaludes and other somnolents that will be all the rage with the hip folks still gainfully employed at firms such as Goldman $ach$ and the government at the Department of the Trea$ury.

That’s one thing I wanted to mention, but another jives real well with what you are saying this week.

I looked at Cristopher Alexander’s book yesterday, “A Pattern Language”, and read some of the first patterns for the first time, and was struck by how Vermont’s quite close to them. I gather D. Orlov was speaking to KMO, who you may know, and he said Vermont towns were too far apart for his taste. But they are spaced about how “A Pattern Language” suggests. I didn’t even know Vermont when I read the patterns about construction, yea these many years ago. (When that was a new subject for me). I was pleasantly surprised to find myself living in some of the larger patterns; the woodshop is built on the pattern “Site Repair” to mention one.

    Aloha Amigo!

Anyway, when the canoe is done it’ll be payday, and I can buy some books I need, such as yours.

An avocado a day keeps the doctor away. And keep well away from synthetic foods with added fructose. Have a sensible breakfast with something sweet if you crave it, a healthy lunch, and little or nowt to eat after the middle of the afternoon most days. After a while you will lose most of your craving for sweets, and some excess weight as well. And WALK (don’t run or jog – that’s for fools if you are over 50 and out of condition) 2-3 miles every second day at 120 paces per minute if you can’t handle daily aerobic exercise.

    Buck,

Why do some people fuck the dead? Horrific yes, but there you have it. Is the perpetrator, somewhere behind his illness, trying to link the beginning and the end, and also show that life will be dominant? What’s the actual “force” behind the debased urge?

Life, Death, Sex. Why not all nude pallbearers in those delightful heels, for a reaffirmation of the wonders of life? Or, four nude males and four nude females, the coffin carried by the very creators of new life.

It’s time to start thinking below the box.

      • tucsonspur April 29, 2017 at 5:16 pm #

Why not? The answer, other than that they’re simply low-life degenerates, could be very informative. The real difficulty is getting to that answer.

        • DA April 29, 2017 at 8:13 pm #

Hmm… I suspect its simply about domination and humiliation without revealing the perpetrator’s own shortcomings. When you think about it, fucking a corpse is really nothing more than fucking a totally compliant victim who literally can’t talk, fight, or indeed, even think back, although I’m sure in the perp’s mind all of that is up in the air. In the end, its just another sexual fetish like any other, and god knows we humans are chock full of those.

Simply labeling them as “degenerates” is probably not all that productive.

Finca’s prediction on development N. Korean crisis

Situation will continue to escalate, mainly in the Media space, China will fail to negotiate a peaceful solution. When everybody will have their panties steaming with hot piss, there will be a miraculous last-moment settlement negotiated by Kremlin.

Time is asymmetric as Arthur Eddington said a long time ago. This asymmetry between past and future gives time its apparent direction or “arrow”.

Yeah, this is sloppy physics and anyway this isn’t a physics blog so wtf has this got to do with anything? Just this, asymmetry between past and future is a more general way of saying that pride goes before the fall.

Remember Hillary’s campaign manager Robbie Mook and his serene smile on TV gabfests before the election? Well, Robbie got way too full of himself. He chose to disregard this asymmetry. Too bad that because if it operates in the universe at large, it surely acts in American society and public affairs. And too bad for Hillary.

IOW things change, nothing stays still, no configuration of circumstances lasts forever. And those who find themselves at the top of the pyramid should enjoy their temporary good fortune. Nobody at the pinnacle has the energy, the time, the knowledge, the resources to arrange affairs to stay there forever.

During these past few decades the Davos people had a field day abusing laborers in third-world despotisms. They came out of this exploit with mind-bending wealth, an unshakable belief in their competence, a feeling that this outcome is just, it is right and it is proper. And they think that people and institutions are like chess-pieces that you can rearrange at will.

You can see the exultation in coastal bubble cities not only among preposterously rich Oligarchs but also their enabling clerisy, you see the the spectacular displays of wealth, the no-holds barred hedonism, the smug self-justification. Pride in other words.

But they don’t see what’s in plain view. The chess-pieces are re-arranging themselves as if they all have a mind and interests of their own. Which, of course, they do. In Kunstlerian terms what we have is increasing disorder, an array of failing arrangements originally put in place to serve elite interests.

Globalists sneer at the rise of popular outrage – which they paint as ignorance and racism – they tell themselves that they command the Fed and the Treasury, that they are too important to fail or jail.

And they reassure themselves that the violent disaggregation of nation states in wide swathes of the globe is manageable, that this disarray won’t come here, that with the application of military force and diplomacy and some judicious bribing and cajoling, all this will pass.

All this WILL pass, but not necessarily to elite advantage. Quite simply, they screwed too many chess-pieces and these chess-pieces are too numerous to manage.

We’ve already seen some of the consequences. Trump is one, Le Pen another, Brexit another. But there are others that get no attention, like Orban and Civic Alliance in Hungary, the Law and Justice party in Poland. The elite turned up the heat and now they’re amazed that the pot is boiling.

But there’s something else, the global device for communication and surveillance, the internet, enables people to work from a distance. And this gig economy of part-timers, free-lancers is global. If you want cheap labor over the internet, you can get it from Malaysia.

So, this preening, self regarding bi-coastal Creative Class beware. If you have delusions of superiority over people in fly-over country, if you look down on them, well, you may be next to join their ranks in destitution.

The reason people love watching sports (besides the fact it is a type of war game) is because we all know that one day, if we live long enough, we won’t have any ability to do anything; except sit in a chair drooling; bald headed, toothless, shitting and pissing ourselves just like a baby.

So why not enjoy watching people take their bodies and minds to the limit of their abilities?

Even coaching is a sweet science because its all about recognizing and deploying the resources you have in the best possible way.

Just because you suck, is no reason to hate sports.

One day, even the best of us will suck.

Unlike Janos, I have no problem watching sports with no black people; my favorite is the ski jump.

If anyone saved the world from a nuclear war, then John Fitzgerald Kennedy undoubtedly occupies a place of honor in this row. And it is clear that mighty forces wanted to unleash that war, and Cuba was more of an excuse than a cause. Already just for this memory the 35th President of the United States will remain ever green, and thanks to him we can still demand the continuation of the banquet.

And personally, I associate JFK with Moscow, or rather with the flight to Moscow, and the green color is associated not with absinthe or with Islam, and not even with credit notes of the Federal Reserve, but exclusively with Ireland, not only the Catholic, but also Orthodox. And in general, in the Irish Catholics, in contrast to the orange Protestants, there is something Orthodox and green.

John Kennedy was born May 29, 1917 in a famous Irish family. His father, Joseph Patrick Kennedy, was a well-known Boston bootlegger and stock speculator who, having moved to New York from Boston, managed to create on Wall Street a system of so-called “boiler rooms” – centers for economic intelligence and disinformation – with which he managed to manipulate the stock market and, four times driving it into a corner, each time cleaning up still unregulated New York Stock Exchange.

Having thus raised the art of the Irish pirates to geopolitical heights, at the very beginning of the Great Depression, he received funds that could not be estimated or controlled, and a century before privatization of the Soviet property he managed to prove that a talented thief could steal money faster than an equally talented counterfeiter could print.

But unlike his current followers, he used these tools not only to create bordellos, but also to overcome the crisis, to a large extent contributing to the coming to power of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1932.

The newly elected President decided to use his knowledge and experience of the best specialist in banking and stock market scams to create the Securities and Exchange Commission, the head of which he appointed Joe Kennedy.

In this capacity, Joe Kennedy Sr. made impossible the repetition of his own scams and was rumored to be the author of not only the Roosevelt anti-crisis measures to regulate the stock market, but also the main opponent to William Hartman Woodin, whose job he expected to take, supporting the FDR in the election.

He handed over this opportunity to his son, who half a century later, but half a year before the fateful Oswald’s shot, nearly finished off the Woodin reform of 1933, essentially recreating from the ashes financial Phoenix, born in 1910 on Jekyll Island as a result of the marriage of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. with Nelson Aldrich’s daughter.

A year after the Federal Reserve Act was passed, and maybe being a bit too candid for some, Senator Aldrich proclaimed, “before the passage of this Act, the New York bankers could only dominate the reserves of New York. Now we are able to dominate the bank reserves of the entire country”.

It’s hard to miss the impact of the word. “Dominate”

I am reading Peter Hitchens’s The Abolition of Britain for the second time. Talking about the rapid, ugly transformation of the English landscape after WW2 where slum communities were broken up when they were moved into new housing estates far from city centres, shops and anything else, he mentions that a similar phenomenon in the US was largely responsible for the rise of feminism in the 60s.

    • Janos Skorenzy April 29, 2017 at 7:11 pm #

Why not write a sequel, if that is right word: The Abolition of Ireland. As an introvert, you are well qualified. Nigerians are loudest and most extroverted people on Earth. And Ireland is slated to become a colony of Nigeria. Don’t hold back you hatred. It carries the Creative Force more often than not.

      • Sean Coleman April 30, 2017 at 1:24 pm #

If I ever wrote it nobody would publish it; if someone published it nobody would buy it; and if anybody read it it still would not make a blind bit of difference.

I wrote my first letter in nearly thirty years to a national newspaper a few weeks ago (to the Sunday Independent) in response to a very rare article about immigration, which was of course strongly in favour of it. The author stated that more than one in ten people were born outside Ireland. I wrote to say that this was true (it would also have been true to say that more than one in a hundred was) but that it she would also have been true to write more than one in six, seeing as the official OECD figure is 17.6%, which is pushing one in five (and that this would not include illegal immigrants, whose number can only be guessed at.) I also pointed out that Ireland ranks 7th in the proportion of immigrants and that its rate of recent immigration (ie over the past 5 years) is 46%, which is nearly three times the OECD average.

On the same page as this article was another about a 17 year old girl of Nigerian descent. She was very happy as a four-year-old in Nigeria but friends of her family (I assume this would really be family) told her parents that life in Co. Clare was very nice and they should come over. She said that it was very uncomfortable at times being the only black child in her local school and that the Irish still had a bit of work to do to accept people from different ethnic backgrounds. She did not say on what grounds her family were allowed to stay. I assume it was the usual “I have arrived and I now claim asylum”.

This is only one way in which Ireland is abolishing itself, irretrievably. The corner stone of the whole process is the demonization of the Catholic Church by means of clerical sexual abuse scandals and abuse at children’s homes. As you know, I am very sceptical of such claims because they fit in perfectly with the wider pattern of contemporary witch hunts, the most notable over her being the demonization of the late dj Jimmy Savile, who had been knighted and was famous for his charity fund raising and his eccentric appearance and life style. Along with a few others, who have examined this extraordinary case in great detail, I am convince that the evidence against him is non-existent, yet he was labelled shortly after his death a few years ago as one of Britain’s most prolific paedophiles, a man who spent every waking moment planning his ‘abuse’ and commiting his crimes In Plain Sight (yet nobody ever saw him doing them).

The Irish witch hunt, which has been going on for thirty years, is anti-clerical and I am convinced that the evidence is equally shaky. The irishsalem website (Rory Connor) is the only place I know which has systematically debunked this stuff.

As in America and everywhere else this is a powerful mass fantasy. I mean not just witch hunts but the whole of political correctness. Evidence is fabricated, exaggerated or ignored in a wide range of areas as far as I have been able to make out over the last two years: immigration (the above example is a very mild one – see French TV Libertés for a systematic examination – the weekly IMedia programme, but you need to understand French), global warming, scientific materialism and the so called ‘sceptical’ movement, the ridiculous response to Brexit, the even more ridiculous reaction to Trump’s election, the demonization of Russia and Putin (the latest gassing in Syria is a classic of the genre) and others that I can’t be bothered to think of.

As I mentioned here before English journalist Christopher Booker (who also wrote an excellent book debunking AGW) wrote a precociously insightful book in 1968 called The Neophiliacs, which analysed the birth of the Swinging Sixties in England as a 5-stage mass fantasy. He is entirely right. Other writers, such as our host here, have been struck by the fantastic nature of what is going on. It makes any other explanation somewhat redundant because you cannot explain irrational behaviour by rational motivations.

        • Janos Skorenzy April 30, 2017 at 3:39 pm #

My people come from Connaught, near one of the Demon schools that raped little kids en masse. It’s all real. The Catholic Church fell to the Powers of Darkness. Vatican Two just eliminated the Goodness that might have combatted it, while doing nothing about the perverts.

One would think the Irish could love themselves in some basic way anyway. But alas, they don’t. They are too “English” and the Gaelic culture stuff never really took – just something you have to do to graduate. Anglo-American Culture, that’s what took.

Ancient Cults sacrificed children to their gods. Our Elite rape children as a form of sacrifice. Which is more cruel? But they sacrifice them now too. In Brussels, there are two huge street murals of human sacrifice. That’s how confident the Elite are now.

          • Sean Coleman April 30, 2017 at 4:33 pm #

            Janos

Stories about the ‘Elite’ and the Church raping children are (with a very few exceptions indeed) fantasy. The way to tell a fantasy is to dig into the claims. Usually you need go more than half an inch down before you see there is nothing there. This is my point; I am not meeting fantasy with counter-fantasy but trying to see what is actually true. It would take a thousand men a hundred years to check it all out, but what I have seen so far makes me agree with Trump’s assessment of the press as a disgrace and to laugh at the claim of ‘distinguished’ reporter from the Washington Post (Woodward? The Watergate one?) that ‘it is not fake news’. It is fake.

Vatican 2 seems to me to have been a very big mistake. I don’t know much about it but I am reading Spanish historian Pio Moa (Rodriguez), a former Communist terrorist, who claims persuasively that Franco’s rule (I won’t say ‘regime’) laid the foundation for democracy in Spain after the incredible destructiveness of the self-proclaimed Republicans (who only wrecked the republic). His position was made very difficult by Vatican 2’s opposition.

Two examples in support of my earlier point. I finished two books a few weeks ago (both as it happens recommended by Peter Hitchens).

1 Re-reading of Ed West’s The Diversity Illusion. What I had not noticed the first time round was his final chapter where he compares support for mass immigration, in the face of the huge damage it does in so many ways, to a millennial cult. I was expecting something like that and I got it. I just wasn’t paying attention in the first reading.

2 Booker and North’s The Great Deception which examines in great detail the history of British involvement in the EU. The final chapter (‘Deception or Self-Deception?’) points out the utopian nature of the project, one that is built on lies to the electorates and which aims to unite Europe by buereaucratic means with shelf-fuls of legislation. Last year Booker, who as I said above was one of the first to discern the fantasy nature of the global warming theory, showed in a newspaper column how he nevertheless didn’t appreciate the full range and depth of the mass fantasy when he used these words: “from what we all now know about Savile”. This of course should read, “from what we all think we know about Savile”.

Don’t get taken in by seductive fantasies. They are lies.

          • Sean Coleman April 30, 2017 at 4:40 pm #

Just to add that the dismal thought struck me yesterday that when the fantasy hits the brick wall of reality, as it surely must, that won’t be enough to wake people up from it. Just as Europe’s remedy for every crisis is more Europe a general collapse may just confirm them in their madness. So we will have a world made by hand where the same nonsense persists. Please somebody convince me that won’t happen.

I guess that the gun control laws in the US create a huge legal problem when a bloke dies? For example, a bloke with a huge arsenal of weapons dies, and then suddenly there are all of these unregistered machine guns, rocket launchers, and flame throwers and ammunition lying around? So you’ve got to set up a Trust and register the guns to a Trust? But a Trust needs a Trustee, and who would want to be a Trustee of a huge weapons cache?

“In the last 10 years, firearms law has perhaps been the fastest growing niche practice area in estate planning. Demand for gun trusts particularly have caused trusts and estates attorneys to learn how to design legal vehicles for registering firearms regulated under the National Firearms Act and in compliance with varying state laws. Expanding gun control regulations and the fierce political climate have also inspired the public to seek legal aid with the inheritance of firearms.

When I think of all the worries people seem to find
And how they’re in a hurry to complicate their mind
By chasing after money and dreams that can’t come true
I’m glad that we are different, we’ve better things to do
May others plan their future, I’m busy lovin’ you (1-2-3-4)
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
And don’t worry ’bout tomorrow, hey, hey, hey
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
    Live for today
We were never meant to worry the way that people do
And I don’t need to hurry as long as I’m with you
We’ll take it nice and easy and use my simple plan
You’ll be my lovin’ woman, I’ll be your lovin’ man
We’ll take the most from living, have pleasure while we can (2-3-4)
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
And don’t worry ’bout tomorrow, hey, hey, hey

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRfW5Nahgc4#t=104.248273

    Hello, how are you?
Have you been alright through all those lonely
    Lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely nights?
That’s what I’d say, I’d tell you everything
If you pick up that telephone, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Hey, how you feelin’?
Are you still the same, don’t you realize the things we did
We did were all for real, not a dream
I just can’t believe they’ve all faded out
Of view, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh
    Blue days, black nights
I look into the sky (the love you need ain’t gonna see you through)
And I wonder why (the little things you planned ain’t comin’ true)
Oh, oh, telephone line, give me some time, I’m living in twilight
Oh, oh, telephone line, give me some time, I’m living in twilight
    Okay, so no one’s answering
    Well, can’t…

Don’t we already have plenty of people doing exactly that? Indeed, look no further than coitus obsessed Thwack, or that other joker– what’s his face, who pops in every now and then with a flourish of debased commentary.

Have you ever been in an loud urban traffic jam and for a transcendent instant, inexplicably hear the sound of the sublime? The same sound that every person who has ever lived has had the chance to see and hear if only they raise their eyes to silvery maple leaves above glistening and bend an ear to the eternal leaves rustling?

So many start out appreciating the sublime Divine but the further they get away from the ocean energy of their mama’s womb, the closer they get to debauchery and decadence…over and over again, person after person:

Just in case you didn’t get it, I was joking about the pallbearer arrangement under the “box”. But I certainly get your point.

I had that transcendent incident you mention just yesterday, in regular traffic. Sublime, ethereal, and poignantly inexpressible.

Rather than gush on personal details, I’ll just mention the song.
It was “fields of gold” by Sting. Google it if the link doesn’t work.

Thus the limits of your pantheism. You need panENtheism instead. God is not the Universe, but rather manifest in the Universe as the Universe. Big difference. Like thinking the waves are the ocean and when the wave disappears, the ocean is gone too.

You will remanifest again, the same but different. You are not tusconspur but rather tusconspuring. You don’t even exist now as a noun or a thing. You are the Change.

When the Serpent coils, the Universe is. When the Serpent is still, the Universe is not. You’re just one of the coils, a friend of Eddy Coyle. But if you want to be awake during the Pralaya when He is Still, then make friends with Shiva, the Lord of Serpents.

I find it therapeutic having a Black to hate on. So I’m “choosing to believe”(!) – so fucking American – that Thwack is Black. Why not? It’s one of my few concessions to Americanism.

And let’s face: he gets the basic attitude right. That he can talk like a White doesn’t automatically mean he isn’t Black, just that he’s a smart one who can occasionally let the beloved ghetto go. Many Blacks have dual personalities, one for Whites and one for Blacks – just like you have a different one for each language. But most Blacks identify with the Black one as the real one. Of course neither is “real”, but that gets us into deep water and heavy waves. But identification – that’s as real as it gets. Or to put it more accurately, it makes things real. We choose our personal universe thru this mechanism. Thus you chose not to identify with Ruskin burning paintings. That’s not the Ruskin you want to be real, so presto!, you made him disappear.

” I’ve maintained for many years that it will probably require the collapse of the current arrangements for the nation to reacquire a reality-based sense. ”

    “……of purpose and meaning.”

Is really going much too far , to a brazenly disgusting degree .

Instead of enslaving millions you will be reduced to enslaving hundreds.

And, incredibly , these slaves will most likely enjoy MUCH GREATER practical freedom than they do now !

You will lose the means to impose urine tests, or DNA tests, or background check the babysitter ( when the greatest threat to your kid isn’t the babysitter , but you ) .

You won’t have the means to impose drivers licenses or social security numbers.

    to impose cameras and Facebook.

As much as I despise our predatory scumbag ruling class, I do NOT for ONE SECOND think they IMPOSED ANY given ill on the average citizen,

On the contrary, they gave the average person exactly what they WANTED.

    — Except that the average person stupidly , or evilly (? ) fancied that the bad would be done to another, and not to themselves.

    umm…….this concept, followed to its logical conclusion, is ;

    Anything goes, nothing matters.

As a practical matter, perhaps it works for dogs and cows? but human minds actually do not work that way.
The human mind is every half second, either reflecting on the past, and/ or anticipating the future.
About the only time the mind is ever fixed in the present is like in a coma , or you hit your thumb with a hammer, that sort of thing.

” Critical thinking is, in part, evaluating that which a person says in relation to that persons qualifications for his or her opinion. ”

If that were actually true, then as a practical and logical matter , he is in the wrong place.

Facebook or Instagram would fix him up.

Notice he is in that old-school-internet part of the internet where pen names are a matter of course, and anonymity ( if actually fake) was / is THE IDEA.

To refresh peoples memory , the original promise of the internet was that you could interact with people solely on the basis of intellect and character, and proven action over time.
NOT on the basis of age, sex, race, class, title, or “qualifications.”

We live in a sea of qualifications IN REAL LIFE in every degree as limiting , controlling, exploiting, and manipulative as Any old Jim Crow , as bad as the worst of feudalism.

As for sites like Facebook or Instagram……..well……I suppose they are the virtual world equivalent of people who, in the real world, drive around in a Mercedes when a Traubant would serve just as well, or a Cadillac , when a used Accord would actually serve their own needs better, because its all about the show , its all about the cosmetics.

My —admittedly limited — experience of such sites is that they are where people go to meet……..err……..people they already know in real life , in their already limited and circumscribed circle.
Why they can’t just as well pick up a telephone, or pay an in-person visit ?
Beats me, except , as I just suggested , it is the virtual world equivalent of the real world Cadillac.

Anyway, consider the curious nature of this statement of his given where he is hanging out.
It’s more than a bit like a whore in a whore house casting herself as a nun , and while remaining in the whore house too.

“Your hesitance to provide any life history”

At the very least the chronology here is flat backwards.

To refresh peoples memories, this whole exchange began when HE observed that it seemed I knew some considerable amount about criminal justice , and so he enquired as to further details about my background.

THAT IT SEEMED I KNEW SOME CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT ABOUT CRIMINAL JUSTICE.

THIS is the salient point, really, the only significant “life history ” .

What does he want to know , the name of my elementary school or Astrological sun sign?
What would the relevance of such data be?

So, as I said, at least, the chronology is backwards.

That is, basically he is claiming on Tuesday that he does not know ( my life history . )
When on Monday he claimed that he did know .

Call me terribly judgmental, but I don’t find this to be a particularly impressive display of veracity.

“Your hesitance to provide any life history to parse your comments is not only speaking volumes, it is now screaming them. ”

    Screams WHAT?

    He does not say.
    An oversight ?
I doubt it is an oversight.

What does it scream? Have I tried to pass myself off as a saint, as special, as a good person , above-average , etc?

Have I ever even suggested , or hinted, that I’m anything other than your typical garden variety asshole and scoundrel ?

I have said repeatedly that I fully endorse original sin —i.e. everyone is a criminal —including ME .

So, what , exactly , is hidden here to my plotted
    advantage that screams out?

Mr. Kunstler speaks often of greedy mining of data , to what end ?
In an attempt to CONTROL. ( which actually leads to less of it. )

This was never anything but this guy demanding of me what he has NOT earned, is NOT entitled to, and does NOT require.
    Nothing more.

I surmised as much weeks ago. And his actions subsequently have only added to, never subtracted, from that conclusion.

I do not need to “earn” any data from you…If you cannot provide an honest accounting of your curriculum vitae, I and others will simply discount what you have to say. I expect that you have only experienced law enforcement from a book…and if you have any practical experience, it ended badly for you. Your experience, mine, and everyone on the site submits to a vetting experience…it is an integral part of decision making… “critical thinking”. Opinions are like assholes…everyone has at least one. What make’s your opinions worthy of consideration? Your education and life experience…without a knowledge of your experiences, any opinion of yours is wasted breath, or bandwidth, if you will.

In continuation of the previous post…

While all these Shakespearean passions were boiling, the future President of the United States John Kennedy went to school, preparing for his future exploits ala Tom Sawyer, in particular, improving his skills in toilet terrorism (he blew up a school toilet).

After leaving school in 1935, he lost his favorite training ground and tried to console himself with trips abroad. Taking into account his merits in the field of preventing nuclear war, I believe that as a result of this trip, he can safely be awarded the palm tree not only in toilet terrorism, but also in admiration of beauty, as on the way to London the acute aesthetic perception of reality forced him to visit Kenya in order to enjoy the beauty of Lake Victoria.

It’s hard to say how much the aesthetic and beneficial presence of the future US President John F. Kennedy influenced the fact that nine months later one of these beauties – a stately girl named Habiba – gave birth to an extremely capable boy.

His abilities were so outstanding that he managed to enter a school where Anglican missionaries taught science and art to the sons of Kenyan leaders. Moreover, in 1958, he casually caught the eye of the special envoy of Senator John F. Kennedy, who had become chairman of the Bureau of African Affairs at the US Department of State, and this boy’s ability impressed the special envoy so much that the latter recommended to Kenya leader Tom Mboya to include the talented young man in the program “Airlift to America”, which from a pitch of senator Kennedy, allowed 81 of the most gifted Kenyan students to study in the United States.

Although Habiba’s son was initially unable to enter the continental US, but in September 1959, he began his studies at the University of Hawaii in Maui, and a year later, in the process of studying Russian, a girl from the highly respected Protestant family Anne Dunham fell in love with him.

Her father was a distant relative of President Truman and even more distant relative of George W. Bush, but the enlightened morals of Hawaii overcame the racial prejudices of that time, and in February 1961 the brilliant Kenyan student and distant relative of US Presidents Truman, Madison, Bush, etc. were married, and in August they already had a son – the future US President Barack Obama.

Moreover, the further education of the father and mother of the future President Obama, John F. Kennedy, who by that time became President Kennedy, paid out of his personal funds.

Given the sad fate that befell the descendants of John F. Kennedy, it is gratifying to observe the remarkable successes of the son of a man to whom the 35th US President provided an opportunity to study at the University of Hawaii and learn about the advantages and disadvantages of Jeffersonian democracy in its very heart.

It should now be obvious that all those Tomahawks, Rubellas, Abrams and Armata tanks and other armaments are just ripples on the water, and the deep currents that determine the climate on a global scale are religions.

Therefore I will allow myself to recall that Stalin in 1943 dissolved the Communist International (Comintern) and began to build an Orthodox International instead, making the International Department of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) Central Committee an instrument of this policy.

Why he decided to do so is unknown, but I was reading in the tenth grade the grandmother’s handwritten copy of the materials of the 20th Congress of the CPSU, including the anti-Stalin report by Khrushchev.

And I remember that from these authentic documents of the era it followed that “the leader’s love for Orthodoxy” became the basis of accusations of Stalin in creating a cult of personality.

And in the recent Russian movie “Optimists” shown on Russian TV there is a hint that the director shares this view with me, since in the film the main optimistic heroes fell into pessimism and flushed their country down the toilet because of hatred for Orthodoxy.

Indeed, all the misfortunes and betrayals in the film begin with the fact that the protagonist of “Optimists” fires his daughter’s nanny for teaching the girl to make a Sign of Cross while looking at the church.

The unsuccessful attempt to remove Khrushchev from power in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis doomed the Soviet Union.

Four years from 1961 to 1965 were fatal for Brezhnev and Suslov attempts to heal the wounds inflicted by Khrushchev.

Only in 1965 – two years after the Black Project (ODESSA) killed President Kennedy in the United States – they manage to displace Khrushchev, but it was too late to completely repair the Khrushchev’s damage, and the Soviet Union finally kicked the bucket on January 25, 1982.

“About the only time the mind is ever fixed in the present is like in a coma , or you hit your thumb with a hammer, that sort of thing.” –kesaAnna

Or in meditation, which is defined as being relaxed, nonjudgemental, and alert… aware of what is happening in the present.

“Meditation is an adventure, the greatest adventure the human mind can undertake. Meditation is just … a single moment you are not doing anything and you are just at your center, utterly relaxed – that is meditation.”

Whenever you can find time for just being, drop every thing you are doing. Including thinking, concentration, and contemplation. Even if for only a single moment you are not doing anything and you are just at your center, utterly relaxed – that is meditation. And once you have learned how to do it, you can remain in that state as long as you want; finally you will be able to remain in that state for twenty four hours a day.

Once you have become aware of the way your being can remain undisturbed, then slowly you can start doing things, keeping alert that your being is not stirred. That is the second part of meditation. First learn how just to be, and then learn little actions such as, cleaning the floor or taking a shower, but keeping yourself centered. Then you can perform complicated actions while still staying centered.

Therefore, meditation is not against action. It is not an escape from life. It simply teaches a new way of life; you become the center of a cyclone.

Externally it may seem that you live a normal life, but in reality you will live more intensely; with more joy, clarity, vision, and creativity. Yet, you will be aloof, just as a watcher on the hills, simply seeing all that is happening around you.

You are not the doer of any activity, you are the watcher. That is the whole secret of meditation. Doing continues on its own accord. You can do everything, only one thing is not allowed, your awareness should never be lost. That awareness should remain absolutely unclouded and undisturbed.

The essential theme or spirit of meditation is to learn how to witness.

A crow is crowing and you are listening. There is a object and a subject. But you can not see a witness who is seeing both? The crow, the listener, and still there is someone who is watching both. It is such a simple phenomenon.

You see a tree. You are there, the tree is there, but you can not find one more thing? There is a witness in you which can see you seeing the tree.

Watching is meditation. What you watch is irrelevant. You can watch a tree, a river, the clouds, or you can watch children playing. It does not matter what you watch, the objects are not important.

Remember one thing: meditation means awareness. Whatever you do with awareness is meditation. Action is not important, but the awareness that you bring to your action is important. Walking can be a meditation if you walk alert. Sitting can be a

meditation if you sit alert. Listening to the birds can be a meditation if you listen with awareness. Just listening to the inner noise of your mind can be a meditation if you remain alert and watchful.

The quality of observation, the quality of being aware and alert, is the most important and that is what meditation is. One should be alert and watchful, then whatever you do will be meditation.

    There are four basic steps:

    Watch your physical actions (body)
    Watch your thoughts (mind)
Watch your feelings and emotions (heart)
Watch the watcher – Ultimate awareness

What a coincidence, Asoka used to post the very same Osho material.

But then again, Osho has quite a large audience indeed.

I first came across his writings in a metaphysical/ New Age bookstore about 40 years ago, give or take, back when he went by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. The book I started paging through was titled “The Mustard Seed” and I was captivated about his assertion that Jesus, himself being a Yogic master, used breath control to deceive those that had crucified him into believing that he was dead. But Jesus, himself a master of his physical being, had only suspended the external appearance of breath; indeed, that Jesus was also able to slow his heart rate to an extremely slow rate and indiscernible pulse.

And after the deception, made his way to India where he lived for decades after the “crucifixion”.

Tricky fellow, that Jesus Christ dude (if Osho is to be believed). And ever since–and well before too–flawed humans and immoral institutions have been deceitfully “resurrecting” themselves like Phoenix The Zombie, over and over again just like the ‘Too Big To Fail” dance as we like to call it here in the good ol U.S.A.

    Les cent jours 2017

Yesterday there were a hundred days of Trump’s presidency, and just a couple of days ago it seemed that the press would present these hundred days of Trump as the new Les cent jours of Napoleon.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundred_Days

As a result, Trump gave a very large interview to the CBS channel, which resulted in the hammering of nails into the coffin of Hillary Clinton, where she lay embracing the old Satanist Podesta on scraps of posters of her election campaign.

And all the other channels compared Trump rather with Wellington at Waterloo, and compared a hundred days of the Democratic Party under President Trump with Napoleon’s Cent-Jours and blamed Hillary Clinton for that.

It seems I was right about Bastinda.

I talk to these folks; they don’t even know what’s happened to them, why their son is in jail, why their teenage daughter is knocked up, why the ball bearing factory has closed … its a mystery, created by hidden malevolent forces by people far away. And the thing is some of these families have been out there 12, 15 generations; their ancestors were stalwart, independent Yankee farmers who fought at Brandywine and Cold Harbor, now their sitting in their falling down houses collecting an SSI check. Such is the trajectory of American life.

      Fluoride, GMOs, Sugar, Pollution.

Such is the trajectory of American life–down to where?

The old days are long gone.

      • elysianfield May 1, 2017 at 10:51 am #

        Malthuss,
We all “suffer” Fluoride, GMO’s, Sugar and Pollution….why do some prosper, and others not?

    • onehunglo April 30, 2017 at 9:16 pm #

      brh, you wise one indeed….

as onehunglo articulate, plan all along is merciful ending to life to those unable to contribute to globalist agenda.

in between, America stuck with neutered old loser like capn stubing and buck stud, who always lament for good old day…..

they too highly expendable, days are short, and lamp growing dim.

      that ok.

let not you heart be troubled.

      may God be with you.

“Made by hand” in the New Republic or the Old for that matter , doesn’t mean finger typing letters onto the computer screen.

So who is going to teach you a trade, how to work with your mind and hands? Certainly not Janos; he’s never even experienced a callous on his hands.

Old losers like me? Only if you sweep the floor and dust the high spots for a year or two, Grasshopper.

Let your heart be troubled for days are short, and lamp growing dim. Typing on the keyboard doesn’t cut it and John Galt ain’t going to carry your ass in the New Republic.

Awesome post JHK. I read it aloud in its entirety to my wife, who I fear I have unduly influenced to be much more expectant that the end of our system is both possible and relatively likely. She was much more of a well adjusted person before knowing me, but now she handles most of the just-in-case SHTF type preps other than weaponry and mechanics, which are my purview. I too frequently berate the medias’ hyper focus on the topic du jour that is the “opioid epidemic.” Thanks to all of the goddamned junkies OD-ing, when I go to the Doc-in-the-Box with two snapped ribs in my back they try and send me home with a children’s level of codeine mixed with a megadose of Tylenol. Have fun trying to get any sleep on that nonsense! I had to browbeat and complain several different times to finally wind up with some paltry amount of oxycodone, which they doled out less than a dozen. What a joke. And yet for some people it’s as if they’re handing out pez candy, I just don’t understand it. I used to own a small car lot that unfortunately had to engage in the usurious “buy here pay here” crap, and I had several customers who would routinely offer to pay their car notes in dilaudid, OxyContin, and even methadone. Too bad these offers never coincided with times when I was actually in pain from some accident or injury. Probably for the best I guess, lest I become one of the walking dead in this nation of zombies. As my favorite uncle always says “pain is a good thing; it lets you know you’re still alive.”

Hey Chuck, I’ve had the same experience. A 7 foot tall stack of railroad ties fell on top of me when I foolishly cut the steel band holding them; its the closest Ive ever come to getting knocked out. My supervisor turned white as a ghost because he probably thought I was dead. I saw stars just like it happens in cartoons. People were talking to me but I couldn’t hear anything and could barely see.

Anyway, I hurt all over for a week and the doctor gave me nothing for it.

But you know what I found out?

Every girlfriend Ive ever had has had a stockpile of pain medication hidden away somewhere in their house; this is what women do. They get prescribed so much pain medication I just skip the doctor and go straight to them.

      Antibiotics too.

They got all that stuff, valium, Ritalin… everything.

I think the reason doctors are so quick to prescribe pain medication for women is because women will whine and complain until you give up and give in to make them go away.

And if worse comes to worse, they can always cry.

In contrast, men catch hell if we punk out.

6 months ago I dropped a 3 pound hammer on my left thumb. It swelled up twice its size and turned beat red; then it started getting darker and I told myself the first sign of purple and its doctor time.

In the meantime I called up ex girlfriends for the opioids.

      every girl has a stash.

      *be advised*

      • Buck Stud May 1, 2017 at 1:26 am #

thwack, please lad, stay away from power tools and sharp tools in general. Burying one’s self in a pile of railroad ties and dropping heavy hammers on the thumb suggests an aptitude not suited for perilous occupational hazards.

Didn’t you realize/consider before you cut the band that other people/innocent co-workers could have also been seriously hurt and perhaps even killed by your ‘foolish mistake’?

Sigh…you didn’t heed the sage advice of Ross Perot: ‘Measure twice, cut once”.

On the other hand, perhaps you learned something.

What’s the proper way to cut said band without causing a railroad tie avalanche?

        • thwack May 1, 2017 at 6:36 am #

There was/is very little training for these entry level labor jobs. Usually the steel bands had already been cut by someone else.

The best thing about the event is the Harry Home owner customer was not standing near me because that would have been a law suit.

Understand that the stack didn’t fall as soon as I cut the band. Each 4X4 stack has 2, and it was after I cut the 2nd one and was setting the band snipper down that the first row slowly tipped over onto me slow and silent. Somebody actually yelled “look out!” (might have been the customer?)

Its possible they may have stopped stacking them over our heads due to this; or started using the fork lift to make sure there were alway a few stacks at ground level at the start of every work day.

          I learned something alright.

          Gravity is racist.

“and I told myself the first sign of purple and its doctor time”

        Thwack,
Being a “Black Man” how would you know?

    • Q. Shtik April 30, 2017 at 9:05 pm #

Reminds me of another great line:

Death is Mother Nature’s way of saying “slow down.”

I don’t know if it was a Thwack original but I thought “rocket surgery” was just about the best mixed metaphor I’d ever read. — Q

    *****************

No, I didn’t make that up, I heard someone else say it.

Its been my experience that the white people who can’t accept that Im a black person are either old, provincial, or both; and they just don’t realize the world is much larger than their own limited experiences. There are many nonwhite people who do not fit their limited stereotypes and I think it breaks their concentration when they have to deal with us?

I think it was JHK who said something about people thinking that if they can measure something, or maybe even name it, they think they can control it.

So people like Q-shit, Capt spudlum, punk dud…try to convince themselves Im a white person; I guess because the familiarity calms them down?

Its very racist too. The white liberal racists like these guys are far worse than Janos, because Janos does not pretend he’s not racist. He’s not a pussy like they are. These guys are like rats, sneaky, cowardly…

And yes, I was hammering that semi colon just to see how long it would take to piss you off

    LOL

It work just as I suspected.

Y’all will hate me more when I start using latin.

    Get well soon bitches.

    Old, provincial bitches that is.

    • Janos Skorenzy April 30, 2017 at 9:47 pm #

Yup. There’s three kind of normal people in the world: White, those who want to be White, and those who want to fuck a White. But these pricks and twats are White and don’t want to be White. How unnatural is that? How sick? How ungrateful: they won the genetic lottery but give all their winnings away to others cuz they feel guilty.

Note to my readers: I’m targeting this one to Thwack. Speakin’ his language. Not talking down to him exactly, just talkin jive like. It’s a narrowing, using homey examples with a negative emotional tone. Healthy racists can understand each other. Most of the time he won’t admit this and doesn’t feel we have the right to be racist like he is.

      • thwack April 30, 2017 at 11:28 pm #

Healthy racists can understand each other.

        ***************

there is no such thing as a “healthy racist.”

Racists are by definition weak and insecure.

For example, Janos tries to project his attraction to white women onto me; as if “Becky” is some kind of universal solvent…?

I’d throw a white woman off a balcony to get a shot at some black women Ive seen.

I guess Janos is engaged in some kind of purity struggle/sexual Jihad… where he thinks by rejecting non white pussy, he is some how surpassing himself?

        Sucks to be him.

First, I do not admire what you appear to present as your official position on females.

Aside from that, I am intrigued. You strike me as otherwise profound.

So, anyway, let not your male lust cloud your intellectual mind. They are gorgeous, lovely creatures beyond comprehension, but do not let you forget that they are your better in every way imaginable. Honor and respect your female counterpart for without them you are nothing.

Perhaps, 🙂 I have misjudged [YES, I judge – it is our right] you.

          talk to me

Skorenzy is a deep state asset, ie “it” is not an expression of real human emotions and intellect, which is to say that this Skorenzy entity is NOT REAL. Ignore it.

          Are you a black person?

In a system based on race, yeah.

But Im also a male person.

            A musical person.

            A fun person…

The key to justice is making sure you always lead be extending to all people their “personhood” because this is the quality that separates humans from all other sentient creatures.

This may be the root of the tragedy of Frankenstein?

  78. BackRowHeckler May 1, 2017 at 4:30 am #

Anybody know, what time do the May Day riots start going?

the question is what time do campus snowflakes — the new oppressed proletariat — at $60,000 tuition per year, get out of bed?

I’m thinking the looting and burning will begin pretty late, sometime after noon.

    brh

    • Bro Jobe May 1, 2017 at 7:38 am #

Some snowflakes rely upon mom to call them, since she has their class schedules on her phone.

And when they get ill, mom jets down and puts them in a hotel to heal them.

      I’m not lying.

  79. Bro Jobe May 1, 2017 at 7:36 am #

Talk to local officials about sustaining local business and, at best, you get lip service. I’ve tried.

Talk to local yeast-people, with their constant need for more fodder and diversion, about restoring local business, and at best you get a “huh?” or “it’s cheaper at [insert big box here].”

I’m no purist, and sometimes I have to shop the big boxes to get what we need (no, not what we want; that’s different). Yet even where local options for shopping exist, try finding local manufacturing of the sort JHK means here. A hipster DIY making wall clocks from salvaged circuitry may be cool and make one or two people a precarious living, but it’s not one of those crumbling factories on the Battenkill.
