"A ten-year old classic brought back to life on mobile. A great fit, and a great port."*** PocketTactics A Spiel des Jahres Recommended game, Jaipur is one of the most most well-loved 2-player tabletop games. Jaipur is a fast-paced card game for two players with a blend of tactics, risk and luck. You are one of the most powerful traders in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. You and your opponent duel to demonstrate to the Maharajah that you can earn a greater profit than your competition. At the end of a round, one player receives the Maharajah's seal of excellence, and the first player to earn two seals of excellence wins the privilege of being invited to the Maharajah’s court! Each turn, you can choose to take one card, exchange your cards for other goods, buy the camels needed to transport your wares, or sell at the market. The sooner you sell and the more you sell of a single good at once, the higher your profit. If you take cards, you have to choose between taking all the camels, taking 1 card from the market or swapping 2 to 5 cards between the market and your cards. If you sell cards, you get to sell only one type of good per turn, and you get as many chips from that good as you sold cards. The chips’ values decrease as the game progresses, but you get increasingly high rewards for selling sets of 3, 4, or 5 cards of the same good at a time, so it’s all about waiting just the right amount of time to make your trade. You can’t sell camels, but they are integral to trading and they’re also worth a little something at the end of the round, sometimes enough to secure the win so use them smartly! Jaipur is well respected on BGG (BoardGame Geek). App mention and thread at the link: https://boardgamegeek.com/blogpost/65643/app-news-jaipur-released-iosandroid-prison-archite
Just bought it. Tutorial was good and covered all the rules. There's campaign mode which I'm currently playing. Nice polished game. Next, I will try out the online games...
Jaipur is one of my wife's favorites. We love playing it as it's sufficiently lightweight, deep and fun for a quick session. Online seems to be real time, not asynchronous, which is a shame as we were very much looking forward to playing this async. Can anyone confirm? I was just in the lobby but couldn't join any game, and didn't look like I could invite people who weren't online. They did the same with Splendor, unfortunately. Such a waste. It sure appears so with the added annoyance that the turn timers are a bit borked, at least as 1 player described, where he timed out DURING HIS OPPONENT'S TURN and was thus dropped from the game (???).
True, 3.49 euros for me as well, and the difference of dollars to euros does not explain that i think. Still im on the fence about it. Havent played the physical and i just spent "a lot" on race for the galaxy which is my fave card game. We will see
Yeah, I read that one as well in the lobby. We'll see. I just don't want to start an online game with someone risking leaving them hanging, as I don't have the time for a full session. That being said, the implementation is stellar, and the campaign is quite fun so far, even though the AI in the early levels isn't really that hard to beat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is like Splendor, Lanterns or Tokaido very simple on the surface and it took me several games to appreciate its hidden depth. Of course there are more complicated card games (Race anybody?), but it's fun with enough interesting decisions making this a keeper for me despite the pricing mess in different appstores. Although the AI is not bad, I am really looking forward to pass-and-play sessions with my son. Another Asmodee app I'd love to play async with my friends abroad, sigh.
Simple and elegant, but with lots of interesting decisions. -Do you use a bunch of your camels to snag up a lot of valuable commodities even though that ten will give a whole new field for your opponent the next turn? -Do you sell your set of 3 rupees now to beat your opponent to the more valuable tokens and get a little secret bonus or hold out a bit longer and hope you can get a set of 5 in there for a huge additional secret bonus before your opponent runs the stock dry?
Nothing expected from online multiplayer from Asmodee. Looks like yet another aysnc prossible game ruined by having to wait for your partner to get aboard first. At the time of typing, nobody is on the lobby... But there is a p-n-p and campaign mode, which is good for the price.
Price jumped up a buck (50% increase) in less than 24 hours after release during their 'launch sale'. Had this on my radar to look into but the price increased before I could even research when I get home for the day. Noticed the increase when I clicked to open on app store and saw the higher price than it was this morning. Not cool, skipping for now.
Dev answer: $2.99 - I think there was an error converting from euros when it first went live. Apologies!
It changed so quickly I assumed the lower price was an error/mistake. No issue from me, here. It's still a launch sale, which is already generous in my opinion (launch sales in general, I mean.) I understand having little money to spend, but I'm not going to complain about a dollar difference in a sale price.
Looks interesting and I'm sure I will get it, but the continued approach of non async games from Asmodee completely undermines their generally good board game output. With RftG and Prison Architect vying for attention and the surprisingly regular Asmodee sale policy, this is a wait and see for me (which means I'll probably cave in fairly shortly )
