Cuba. Outgoing Mail. 1850, April 27. Registered cover from Havana to Mompox (Colombia), initially sent prepaid as stipulated for registered mail, with compulsory "0" markings in angles indicating the registration service, additionally struck with fancy "Franco", Havana c.d.s. and framed "Certif" registration cachet, all in blue on dispatch; denoting the transit through Santander in Colombia, after being most probably disembarked via Panama at Buenaventura, with "Santander./Debe." oval marking and "1½" reales applied in this locality and to be collected on delivery, both in blue (there were not postal agreements between Spain and the independent Republic of Nueva Granada, being consequently charged on receipt). The only registered cover recorded emanating from Cuba and sent abroad during the stampless period. Ex Kouri.
