CDEC Gaming qualify for the Summit 7

After nearly two years of missing big LAN events, CDEC Gaming defeated LGD Gaming this morning to ensure themselves the tickets for the seventh edition of the Summit.

The Chinese qualifier's grand final was heavily disputed, with all the five games of the series having to be played before the winner was decided. CDEC Gaming opened the series with a fast forward win but LGD retaliated in the next two matches and looked like they found their stride to secure the LAN presence. However, CDEC were not ready to give up on their chance and put up a hell of an effort in game four and five to deny LGD yet another tournament finals.

LGD Gaming are at their third qualifier grand finals loss, after conceding to their sister team LFY in the Epicenter brackets three days ago and also getting bested by Invictus Gaming in the Manila Masters Chinese qualifier grand finals . LGD also participated in the ZOTAC qualifiers but haven’t been able to exit the groups and they’ve been close to secure a major victory in the DPL Season 3 last month, but Newbee defeated them as well in the grand finals. LGD’s last qualifier grand finals left to be played is for Mars Dota 2 League, an event that will take place only after The International 7.

For CDEC Gaming, winning the Summit 7 Chinese qualifiers might be the only chance for a TI 7 invite. To ensure that, they have to deliver a stellar performance this June at the Beyond the Summit house, where eight teams will battle for the tournament title, a slice of the $100,000 prize pool, and the possibility of catching Valve’s attention. The Summit 7 will take place from 14th to 18th of June and the TI 7 open qualifiers are set to commence on the 22nd of the same month. So, for the victors of The Summit 7, the prize might come extremely handy and more rewarding than they would even expect.

So far Virtus Pro, Team Secret and VG J were confirmed as direct invitees to the event, while Clutch Gamers claimed their spot via Southeast Asian qualifiers. With CDEC Gaming joining in, only three teams remain to be decided via regional qualifiers. One team will come from American brackets and two from European plus CIS qualifiers.

The Summit 7 participating teams:

Russia Virtus.Pro
Europe Team Secret
China VG J
China CDEC Gaming
Philippines Clutch Gamers
