Swansea City will come up against one of the men linked with the club in December when they face Championship side Birmingham in a pre-season friendly.

Paul Clement's Swans will take on the Blues at St Andrew's on Saturday July 29, with the kick-off set for 3pm as the former Derby boss prepares for his first full season at the helm.

Birmingham nearly lost their Championship status, but were kept in the second tier by Harry Redknapp who has been confirmed as Gianfranco Zola's full-time successor.

Redknapp was linked with the Swansea vacancy following Bob Bradley's departure at the end of December, and was believed to have contacted the Welsh club to signal his interest in the Liberty Stadium hotseat.

The former Tottenham and West Ham manager also indicated he would look to bring John Terry and Frank Lampard to Swansea if he were to land the job.

Clement was the man who was handed the reins - and is set to try and convince Terry to move to South Wales after a similar bid to sign Lampard was turned down - with the 45-year-old going on to get the Swans off the foot of the Premier League table and secure survival.

The fixture will come on the back of Swansea's 10-day tour of America, where they will play games against Philadelphia Union (July 15), Richmond Kickers (July 19) and North Carolina (July 22).

Swansea are expected to play a friendly in the UK before they depart for the States, with a home fixture a week before the 2017-18 Premier League season kicks off on August 12 also on the agenda.

The most recent meetings between the Swans and the Blues took place during the 2013-14 season when the sides met in cup competitions.

Birmingham ended Swansea's League Cup defence with a 3-1 victory on home turf in September 2013, but gained a modicum of revenge as Wilfried Bony's brace secured an FA Cup victory in January 2014.
