Man Kaur's son Gurdev Singh, who also competes at the international masters games circuit and was the person who motivated Kaur into joining athletics, believes his mother could have ran faster and completed the race under 1 minute.

CHANDIGARH: When Man Kaur crossed the finishing line in the 100 metres sprint at the World Masters Games in Auckland, New Zealand, she bettered her own world record in the 100+ age category by 7 seconds.
She clocked 1 minute and 14 seconds in Auckland, while her previous best of 1minute and 21 seconds had been recorded at the American Masters Games in Vancouver (Canada).

Kaur's son Gurdev Singh, who also competes at the international masters games circuit and was the person who motivated Kaur into joining athletics, believes his mother could have ran faster and completed the race under 1 minute. “Mother could have run faster,” Gurdev reflected.
“She could have completed the race in under a minute. But she reacted late to the starter's gun. It took her some time to realise that the race had already started and hence she lost a few crucial seconds. Otherwise, she would have clocked under a minute,“ the 79-year-old added.
Kaur, who stays in Chandigarh for six months with her daughter Amrit Kaur and six months in Toronto with son Gurdev, practiced at the Punjabi University grounds in Patiala before going to Auckland.
