A staffer for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has left the campaign after sending a mocking tweet Monday about the ouster of campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
“Ding dong the witch is dead!” campaign aide Michael Caputo tweeted as news of Mr. Lewandowski’s firing was breaking Monday. Mr. Caputo included a link to a portion of the song from “The Wizard of Oz.”
Mr. Caputo later deleted references to his role with the campaign from his Twitter profile.
Mr. Lewandowski on Monday downplayed Mr. Caputo’s role within the campaign.
“I don’t know Michael Caputo, and he was never paid by the campaign. He was a volunteer, and so he’s welcome to tweet anything he wants,” Mr. Lewandowski said on MSNBC.
