Pilot Error: NBC Passes on 3 Comedies, Including What About Barb?
NBC has begun thinning the 2017-18 pilot herd.
TVLine has learned that three comedy projects — Bill Lawrence’s Spaced Out, film-to-TV remake What About Barb? and Max Mutchnick’s sibling sitcom Relatively Happy — will not be ordered to series.

SPACED OUT

Based on the 1991 movie What About Bob? — but with a female twist — a psychotherapist tries to cut ties with her most overbearing patient but is unsuccessful and gains an annoying family member in the process.

In the multi-cam comedy, an adult brother and sister wind up living together for the first time since they were kids, after one of them suffers a big loss. They become each other’s wingmen, shoulder to cry on, best friend and punching bag as they navigate love, loss and work while helping to get each other “un-stuck.”
Poor Jane Lynch.
yeah she is not exactly having the best post-glee luck (but then again aside from Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison I haven’t exactly seen everyone else get any work……oh wait I forgot Heather Morris was just on Dancing with the Stars), maybe Ryan Murphy will hire her to be in an upcoming American Horror story/Crime Story or Feud.
I don’t see RM putting Jane on the next season of Feud unless she can pull of a convincing British accent

okay I kind of forgot about that and for the record I haven’t forgotten about Chris Colfer’s writing, the conclusion to the land of stories series is due in a couple of months

Amber Riley and Chris Colfer are doing good. He keeps writing successful books and Amber is on stage in the UK. She recently won an Olivier award (the UK’s Tony award).
I hope NBC picks up Good Girls I’m sorry since I haven’t heard it pick up yet I think that’s the one that can go well with This Is Us.

Relatively Happy sounds exactly like Casual. But I think I could’ve enjoyed What about Barb. I’m sorry that one didn’t make it.
Is it weird Jane Lynch cant find anything after Glee? She always seemed too good for that show now he cant even get a Comedy Pilot at NBC

Damn, I was really hopeful for Spaced Out. I love Bill Lawrence, I love the cast, and I thought it seemed like a fun idea.

Apples and oranges. These are half hour sitcoms, Timeless in a one-hour drama.

Sounds like a good decision on NBC’s part.
Jane Lynch should really start to look at projects in the cable/streaming space. I would love to see her in something darker or on a show like Fargo. These half hour network TV comedies she’s been doing are like a dime a dozen.
So agree about Jane Lynch. Very baffled by her choices in projects.

My husband and I loved that show! I feel like NBC never really gave it a chance to survive though. Mulder board! Murder board! Murder board!
I was curious about What About Barb? and Spaced Out. Sad to see they didn’t make the cut.
