Sting Lists Central Park Penthouse for $56 Million

This article is more than 6 years old.

Sting may be an internationally-recognized megastar for both his role in The Police and continued success as a solo artist, but the English musician apparently has an eye for breathtaking real estate, too.

Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, are letting go of their two-story Manhattan dwelling for a steep $56 million. The long-time couple paid $30 million for the contemporary abode just two years ago. Sticker shock presumed, this asking price pales in comparison to the 2011 sale of a neighboring unit at $88 million.

At two stories, Sting’s on-the-market residence is anything but ordinary, bearing in mind New York City’s notorious lack of square footage. The 3-bedroom plus den, 3-bathroom home encompasses a comfortable 5,417 square feet. Both floor-to-ceiling windows and a nearly 400-square-foot terrace offer picture perfect views of Central Park and Big Apple skyscrapers in the distance.

A winding staircase in the grand entryway is the first architectural showpiece. From there, an open fireplace stylishly divides the airy living room and formal sitting area. The latter contains sophisticated built-in bookcases with irrefutable contemporary flair.

The bright kitchen includes marble countertops, open shelving, top-of-the-line appliances and a second staircase spiraling up to the den area. The extra space could potentially convert into a music room, for those who truly want to follow in Sting’s footsteps.

Views of Central Park continue in the master suite on the second floor, which connects to an en-suite bathroom with dual dressing rooms and a sauna.

Beyond impressive interiors, Sting’s penthouse is located at 15 Central Park West, one of the most sought-after residential complexes this side of the Atlantic since construction concluded in 2008. Past and current neighbors range from prominent sports celebrities to notable financiers.

Highly secure and well-staffed, the building’s perks include a sprawling fitness center, private screening room and temperature-regulated wine storage. Even more exceptional is the unique old-world motor court at the entryway, a somewhat rare convenience among newer Manhattan residential developments.
