Once Upon a Time‘s Emma and Hook Are Heading for a Fairy Tale Wedding — 5 Things to Know Right Now
It can finally be double-secret officially announced: Once Upon a Time‘s Emma Swan and Captain “Killian Jones” Hook are heading for a wedding.
The confirmation comes on the heels of this Sunday’s episode, in which some of Peter Pan’s magic from Neverland combined with powerful Pixie flower petals allowed Hook (played by Colin O’Donoghue) to return to Storybrooke, where he and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) happily reunited and reaffirmed their plan to walk down the aisle. (Elsewhere, Snow and Charming were rescued from the sleeping curse when Regina got the idea to “dilute” its power by having family and friends also partake in the spell.)
TVLine was on set for the filming of the wedding episode, on March 7 at the show’s soundstage in Vancouver. Many more, exclusive details will be served up as the Big Day draws near, but for right now, here are five things to know:
♥ Airing Sunday, May 7 at 8/7c, the wedding episode is titled “The Song in Your Heart” — because it is also the series’ musical episode (which TVLine was the first to tell you about back in January).
♥ The musical episode features seven original songs penned by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, with arrangements provided by Once‘s long-time composer Mark Isham. In addition to Morrison and O’Donoghue, Lana Parrilla, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas and Rebecca Mader are among the cast members you will hear sing.
♥ The episode has been in the works since last summer, when Once co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis met with Zachary and Weiner. “We’ve been planning it for a long time,” says Kitsis.
♥ Yes, the wedding is poised to mark Emma and Hook’s affirmation of love, but even more importantly, it signals how far the series’ central protaganist has come in six seasons, having first arrived on the scene with her emotional walls raised high and firm. “For us,” says Kitsis, “the most important thing [about the wedding] is that it was intimate and that you really understood that this was a real milestone in Emma’s growth.” One other goal? “Hopefully to make some people cry!”
♥ Yet despite such best intentions, the ceremony miiiiight not go off without a hitch. As Horowitz reminds, “Weddings on the TV series Once Upon a Time traditionally are fraught with unexpected circumstances. And this is no different.”

Neal was so, so SO not Emma’s soulmate. Who the heck sends their soulmate to jail for THEIR crime, refuses to come find them after having multiple opportunities, then screams in their face when that person finds THEM again? I really honestly wonder what show these people are watching…..
No kidding I still can’t believe there are Swanfire shippers still out there. Neal was a jerk who when Emma found him was ENGAGED, didn’t believe Emma when something was clearly up then after he finds out “hey this chick I’m engaged to is a psycho and tried to kill me” rather than having an emotional journey of getting over the woman it’s like a switch flipped and “hey let’s chase Emma again”

And to correct your assumption, to graduate from a Naval Academy (it’s college/university) and become an officer requires smarts.

1) Neal didn’t set Emma up. The one who “phoned” in what happened was August not Neal. 2)in the U.S. the age of consent for teens is 16 and since Emma was 17 almost 18 when she meet Neal. so nope not rape.
Emma in Pilot was turning 28 on 10/22/2011, so her day of birth is 10/22/1983. Henry was 10 in pilot and Regina’s code is his birthday (8/15), so his day of birth is 8/15/2001. He would’ve turned 10 two months prior to meeting Emma. Making Emma 17 (two months away from turning 18) when she births Henry. Wind back 9 months or so for conception in/around December 2000. Thus she had just turned 17 two months prior to conceiving Henry. At best, she met Neal and got involved with him, then pregnant, at 17. I can’t remember how long they were together so it’s likely they met when she was 16. Neal’s birthday in TLWOM was 3/23/1977, so he was 23 when Henry was conceived, though we know he was older through life experience. Regardless, a 23 year old (only about four months away from turning 24) getting a newly turned 17 year old pregnant is kind of… not right. Especially since she was a vulnerable runaway.
So…I get the preference for Neal (I don’t share it but to each his own), and Killian’s made some dumb decisions so I can even see the “dumb and annoying” part (again I don’t find him to be so, but whatever). But ugly?? Do you not have eyes?!

I agree with the comment about Neal. That character is the embodiment of selfless and heroicism (though I don’t agree entirely with the harsh criticism of Colin, who seems like a delightful person). What i think is the best thing about the CS shippers’ hate for Neal, is that it’s entirely baseless. They give the spiel about how Neal sent her to jail but A & E tweeted repeatedly that he didn’t know anything about it until it was too late. Unlike Hook who, you know, left Emma to starve to death in a cell, far more recently than Neal hurt Emma.

He questioned her talents in front of Henry, said she was being emotional when we all know she was right, didn’t like magic, minimized her pain from their past, told her he never would have gone after her if she knew who she was (soulmates really?). Though, in canon, she learned to forgive him in the end so we can all accept that but he obviously wasn’t the one she was meant to be with. if that were so, they would’ve written it that way. i get that people like different ships but he’s been gone for three years….
But Neal wasn’t the one who called the 911 about Emma. It was implied it was August. and that Neal never intended to leave Emma so the only person to blame here for Emma&Neal’s relationship is August. I mean Neal even meant for the money he got from what goods he DID get from what Emma did was to GO to Emma.. so how does that make Neal “bad” ?
Ah, they did First Date! I liked the soundtrack. That’s cool. Wonder if they did more than one song (I was surprised Pasek and Paul only did one of the originals in The Flash).

Still think this so called “wedding” will not go as intended, if anything the fact that’s happening on a musical episode and has been SO spoiled is an indication it won’t be as good as they are trying to sell it. I’m not over it either, I’ve loved it since the pilot & look forward to it every week, bring on more Once!
On the one hand, I love musicals. On the other hand, I dislike Hook and have no desire to see him happily married. I haven’t watched OUAT since 5×03, but I would really like to hear Lana Parrilla belt out something like “No Good Deed” or “Last Midnight.”
If this series goes out on a big fairy tale wedding, I’ll be happy.

Robert Carlyle has basically indicated they’d have to drag him into a musical episode kicking and screaming. Hopefully that means he WON’T be involved. Frankly, the only one I want to see singing at all is Josh Dallas. He has an AMAZING voice.
So this wedding won’t go off without a hitch? Of course not. God forbid the writers let us have one truly happy episode with this show. To to ruin Hook and Emma’s wedding will be the ultimate screw up they have made in this show yet.

Hook has done bad things sure, but he’s never rapped anyone on the show. If you wanna hate Hook go right ahead but don’t make up stuff. You know who actually make the argument about rape, Regina when she controlled Grahm’s heart and Zalina when she was pretending to be Marion.
The only recon was Mary Margaret visiting “John Doe” David in the hospital. She didn’t start to do that until after Emma came to Storybrooke. The curse lasted 28 years. We have only seen glimpses of what happened during that time Filling in details that were previously unknown is not a recon.Other than the hospital visits nothing contradicted what we knew before.
In the episode that showed us the first day of the curse, we do see Snow visiting David in the hospital and Regina overjoyed by it. Later after some years we see Regina seeing Snow visiting David again and it doesn’t have the same effect on her. Regina feels empty and things like Snow and David not being together don’t give her joy any more and she ends up adopting Henry.
You seem to be watching a different show from the rest of us. Please explain what you are interpreting as “rape culture” in regard to Capt. Hook. I’ve never seen him take advantage of any female. There are only three places where I’ve seen it on this show. Zelena with Robin, Regina with Graham and Neal with underage Emma.
When Emma was getting him drunk he made a comment about how it was usually he who did that, but it’s unclear how seriously we should take it.
He was a pirate, read about real ones, they were not much for flowers & chocolates. He’s not that man anymore, in Snow Drifts Killian is ashamed of that man.

She had to have been 17, and could have been as young as 16 when he was conceived since pregnancies take nine months. And we actually do know, in show canon, how old Neal was. His DOB was on the wanted poster and would have been on all of the IDs he needed to have a job in the real world….(I9s, tax forms, SSN, etc…)

People HAVE been stopping watching the show. In droves. The ratings have been plummeting.
and where is the proof that ratings are dropping solely because of Emma and Hook and not because of myriad of other things, such as all the core couples constantly being apart/angsty/etc? I’ll wait.
Two things – LIVE ratings have gone down overall across the board. There are so many factors that go into LIVE viewing and with DVR, Hulu, etc. nowadays, they almost always consider +3 and +7. The show isn’t tanking because of one ship or one character. EVERY network is struggling with this!

I’m open to seeing the timeline of others but we will be arguing semantics? He had the experience of someone much older yet decided to pursue a teenager. I personally have no problem with age differences, none at all, as long as both are ADULTS. And regardless of individual state laws on statutory rape, Neal clearly had the power/upper-hand in that relationship. It’s disappointing to some people to see that romanticized in canon.
I’m not arguing for a ship here, or who is better for Emma, or to compare her various canon and non canon ships… I’m just trying to spell out why it squicks people.

I just hope this is fun, and not full of retconning/plot-moving. Let it be a sort of “stand alone” so it can just be fun! There can still be mishaps…there always are. Just hope they do NOT involve BF in any way…
I’m sure BF will be invoked somehow, but I agree about making this more of a stand-alone ep. #1 it’s a musical & #2 it’s a (highly anticipated by some) wedding. Usually I complain about “filler” eps but I’d be perfectly fine with this one not pushing the “final battle” plot forward. The wedding will move the character development forward, which is plenty.

Hook and Emma are the only reason I am still watching. The last night’s episode was so good for CS! Hope for the EPIC WEDDING for my EPIC couple!!!
I guess I am on the other side of this- I don’t want Emma and Hook to get married because I don’t think she is good enough for him! Since however I don’t think they will write me into the show to steal his heart I will have to watch them get hitched. Oh well at least she didn’t end up with Ted because she was insufferable on that show too :-)

Finally. I have been expecting a wedding for them
I loved these two from the start so wouldn’t miss it! Last nights episode was really solid though I was slightly disappointed that Emma didn’t (properly) get to visit Neverland again. I even liked Snow & Charming, Emma really has made peace in her role as the Saviour, she completely accepted what they did to ensure that her destiny was fulfilled. That was a lovely scene where they got to see her as a little girl, Josh Dallas’ acting was especially touching. I like that they didn’t dwell on the whole Killian killed David’s Father thing but it was only about fifty years ago, I think he would still feel something about that. I’m thinking the wedding is going to take place in the Wish Realm, it just makes sense to me, an idealistic place would suit a musical, Zelena episode next week, not my favourite character but hey ho.. I’m also thinking Emma is going to do a spell/make a wish to make her parents forget her to get them out of harms way, thus freeing up Josh & Ginny as series regulars next season.
Heck yes I will RSVP! And on my wedding anniversary and everything?! This is the greatest news ever!

Put my RSVP for the wedding at Yes, plus 1 ;). So excited they are finally getting married and doing so during the musical episode which sounds like so much fun. For the past few seasons this show has been so dark and depressing – I’m glad they are finally taking time out for a little happiness (I’m sure there will be some drama added in there as well) and hope!
