(Business in Cameroon) - From 6 to 9 February, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (Minpostel) organised in Yaoundé, the “Digital Economy Globe-trotter” tour which consists in listing young project initiators, to facilitate meetings with experts.

“Many young people have been coming since the first day. There is a huge turnout. We have received over 200 among which curious people who think it is a mobile internet café with free internet connection. There are also those who come just because they heard about it in the media; and mostly those with projects. We welcome everyone, we offer them information and we provide them with guidance”, explains the Communication Unit at Minpostel.

The experts are tasked with supporting projects initiators creating a business plan and further developing their projects. Seydou, a young man from Garoua in the Northern region, relates his experience: “I recently created a software to enable the installation of electronic chips to brand and identify cattle. I also have another software which can track grazing oxen and goats, wherever they may be, to prevent any theft or loss of animal”.

The goal of Minpostel is to continue in the medium term the “Digital Economy Globe-trotter” tour in other regions of Cameroon.
