I wonder what the first blowjob was compared to

[deleted]
[deleted]

"Best thing since sticking your dick in moss!"

Is that comparable to a blowjob? I'm asking for a friend

You tell me, I'll wait for you to finish and write up the report in 3 minutes.

I'd read "How to Get a Blowjob In 3 Minutes: And Still Have Time Leftover to Stick Your Dick in Moss" if you write it.

What's he gonna do with the majority of three minutes after he's done?

I dunno. I guess he could play on his phone for 2 minutes 59 seconds

Why did we stop at sliced bread? Certainly when someone ate an Oreo the first time they said, "well, that's way better than sliced bread!"

u/gwhiteyman avatar

I'd much sooner live without oreos than sliced bread

Wait, you would give up Oreos in order to not slice your own bread?

u/gwhiteyman avatar

I would say I eat them way more than the average person, but slicing bread is a mammoth task and Oreos can be replaced!

sharp knife with serrated blade cuts bread like its air.

oreos are gross. how do people eat that shit.

u/typeswithgenitals avatar

Yeah, can just go with hydrox

I've never thought about it but bread must stay fresher if it's not sliced in advance.

u/sanguinesolitude avatar

irrelevant for mass market bread. I mean bread from a bakery is stale the next day. store bought bread stays good for over a week unrefrigerated due to all the preservatives.

plus it's usually mold that makes supermarket bread "bad" it's still moist and fluffy weeks later.

I'll take your word for it.

But what was the thing invented to compare wrapped bread to? Was it just bread?

The cotton gin, actually. Bread has just had a good run since.

What was the cotton gin compared to? We must go deeper!

u/stocpod avatar

Wrapped cotton gin

u/belizehouse avatar

Cotton was the best thing since sheep.

I wonder if it took a long time for sliced bread to gain popularity. I'm sure it wasn't loaded with preservatives, meaning all those slices probably got full of mold in just 2-3 days. A whole loaf of bread with a crust will take a lot longer to go bad.

u/sevjac avatar

gwhiteyman, curious - what led you to this search?

u/gwhiteyman avatar

I wanted to know when sliced bread was invented when thinking about the phrase - kind of a 'that must have been ages ago' moment

TIL sliced bread isn't 100 years old. It seems older?

u/poh_tah_toh avatar

Pre-sliced bread that does not go stale quickly is a recent thing.

Thank you. I had legitimately always wondered this. Now I can retire.

I wish these machines were cheaper. Ever price one? I think I found a used one for $800 online once. I make a lot of bread, and pizza, at home. It's really helped some of my knife skills. Still, I'd love a god damn machine to slice my bread.
