C-4 bomb found in Abu Sayyaf-linked policewoman's rented apartment in Bohol

Police on Monday night found a C-4 plastic explosive from the apartment rented by Superintendent Maria Cristina Nobleza, who was arrested in Bohol with a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf.

A report by the Police Regional Office 7 said a C-4 explosive, a detonating cord, a blasting cap and a blasting cap kit were recovered by policemen from an apartment in Barangay Looc, Panglao, Bohol.

The plastic explosive was recovered from one of the baggage owned by Nobleza's group left at the apartment.

The search was done at around 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

The regional police said Nobleza and her alleged boyfriend, suspected Abu Sayyaf bomber Reenor Lou Dungo, and two others rented the apartment before they were arrested in Clarin town.

Nobleza and Dungo rented the apartment last April 17, six days after joint police and military teams killed six Abu Sayyaf members, including bandit leader Muammar Askali, in clashes in Inabanga.

The apartment's owner said that the couple was supposed to check out on Saturday.

The couple was arrested after driving past a police checkpoint in Barangay Bacani on Saturday night.

Police said that text messages in the policewoman's phone indicate that she and Dungo went to Bohol to rescue the remaining Abu Sayyaf members being hunted down by the military.

Before the couple's arrest, the military killed four more Abu Sayyaf members in clashes in Clarin town.

The military is still hunting down four more Abu Sayyaf members, who arrived in Inabanga town with Askali last April 11.

The military said that Askali's group was planning to carry out kidnappings in Bohol. —ALG, GMA News
