Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of patient and family health education on the postoperative self-efficacy and compliance of functional exercise of breast cancer patients. Method 120 breast cancer patients who accepted radical mastectomy were enrolled and randomized as two groups with or without their family engagement in education, with 60 cases in each, and both groups of patients were asked to perform functional exercise and health education, besides, same education was given to the family members of patients in study group. All patients were followed up for three months, and the endpoints observed were compliance of exercise, general self-efficacy scale (GSES), and function of shoulder joint. Result 3 months after discharge, the compliance rate of exercise in study group was 93.33%, which was higher than that of control group at 78.33%(P<0.05);The GSES score of study group was higher than that of control group (P<0.001), and so did the function of shoulder joint (pain, daily life activities, range of motion and muscle strength) (P<0.001). Conclusion Family health education will surely promote the postoperative self-efficacy and compliance of func-tional exercise in patients with breast cancer.
