Saffiyah Khan defends woman in Hijab! See viral picture of British-Muslim woman defying EDL protester in Birmingham
British-Muslim woman, Saffiyah Khan stared down an angry protester who was approaching a burkha-clad woman on the street.
In the age of terror attacks and bomb blasts, the world is divided into people who are anti-terrorists and those who are anti-Islamic. A group of latter were protesting in Birmingham when a beautiful incident brought them to everyone’s notice. The far-right group, English Defence League (EDL) held a demonstration in Birmingham against what they called the ‘Islamification of Britain’. However, the group was noticed only when a brave British-Muslim woman, Saffiyah Khan stared down an angry protester who was approaching a burkha-clad woman on the street. The picture of Saffiyah smirking and defying the EDL protester instantly went viral as people began to call her as the hero and applauded her bravery.
London was recently a victim of an attack on Westminster Bridge. The incident cost the life of one police officer and left many others injured. EDL was protesting this and blaming all Muslims for the incident in their protest demonstration. Saffiyah Khan, who is an advocate of anti-racism, defended a woman in a hijab who was being approached by the angry protester. The young woman of Pakistani and Bosnian heritage casually pushed the protestors away from the woman with her penetrating gaze.
This moment was captured on camera by the Press Association and was shared on the social media. The picture instantly went viral as the charm of Saffiyah Khan coolly staring down protesters with a smirking face and hands in her pocket caught people by surprise. Saffiyah herself has been pleasantly surprised that the image went viral, but people on Twitter cannot stop praising her nonchalant stare and her bravery. Here are a few praises that Saffiyah received on the social media!
1. Her Smile was the best accessory
Who looks like they have power here, the real Brummy on the left or the EDL who migrated for the day to our city and failed to assimilate pic.twitter.com/bu96ALQsOL

Saffiyah Khan spoke to a media agency when she revealed that the only reason she went for the EDL demonstration was that of their history of violence inflicted, especially on Muslims and vulnerable members of the crowd. The brave woman was a silent spectator of their demonstration and only stepped in when the angry EDL supporters started surrounding and circling a woman in Hijab. Her protest was not as non-violent as it seems in the picture as Khan revealed that the man put his finger on her face, but she did not feel threatened and managed to make them back down! Saffiyah Khan is clearly the kind of inspiration we need!
