FAST RMX Update v1.2 is out now (Time Attack Mode, Online Friends Lobbies)

To be clear this doesn't allow for friends to get into online lobbies together?

I mean we'd like to play with more people and we each have our own copy of the game. But to play together online we have to keep starting and restarting to be put into a lobby together.

Damn, they're doing a lot for this...I'm more tempted than ever :/

Is online free? Will it be free even when whatever their online solution is? That whole thing is confusing.

Any rubberband fixes? Been holding out on buying this if it as bad as people here say.

The AI is not a problem if you learn the tracks and develop good boosting strategies. I never found the rubberbanding to be the game breaking issue everyone makes it out to be, and it's certainly not as bad as some other futuristic racing games (looking at you, F-Zero X).

Online's free until whenever Nintendo implements paid stuff, which apparently isn't until Fall. At least, that's the assumption, there's not much details other than that Fall date. And maybe the weird phone "companion app" will come before then as some test thing?

Cool! I feel like Time Attack will help me learn the tracks better because I am bad at this game. Still can't get in the top 3 on the last set of tracks (came so close... 4th place lol).

Nice got the game a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. Time attack is a nice bonus mode and being able to play with friends is very nice.

I hope they added a restart to the championship. It'll be easier than to start again from the main menu.

Saame that last set of tracks has been killing me, maybe this will help out...

It's still pretty bad. I've had so many moments where I made every correct turn, did shortcuts, and had a good amount of boosts and the AI was still way ahead of me or right on my ass for no reason. It's especially bad on the last three cups.

Yeah, rubber banding is a real problem in this game, even on the easiest cups

I've had way more fun that I thought I would with this game, and the support post-launch is great. Time attack has me in, and some serious trust for delivering on their promise. And quickly.

Awesome, 2 members of my family have it.

I'd also play against you guys if someone creates a tournament.

So how's inviting friends supposed to work? I just selected my car and track and now I'm waiting for players. How do I invite them or have them join me?

I was super excited until I just learned that strafing is still faster then actually racing and there are a few big shortcuts on some tracks, upsetting that those are still present after all this time.

In other words all the top times are going to be people driving sideways and flying past corners because there's not enough checkpoints in a lap.

It's a problem especially on the easiest cups, well difficulty I mean. Subsonic, the starting difficulty speed is the one with the most apparent problems with rubber banding (and perhaps in that regard also the hardest of the speed settings), and if you read the last few pages of the OT, there are plenty of them.

Not to mention the AI track times are completely made up at the end of the race. 100% fake. I'm not sure how the AI works, but it's not by any manner of rules that controls the player.

It seems kind of weird yeah, I guess it just does matchmaking only looking for people on your friends list. A pretty slapdash implementation, it seems. I wonder how that relates to Nintendo's weird matchmaking lobby application thing that's coming?

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing. I guess we'll know a little more next week when Mario Kart launches. No messaging really kills multiplayer, though.

Is the only reason people are down on this game is because it isn't called F-ZERO?
I've been interested in getting it, but whenever I watch videos for it I just get a feeling I won't love it.
I like the color swap mechanic, but the actual racing and track design hasn't impressed me in anything I've seen.

I'm still interested in it and I may pick it up when I have a lull between games, but there has been so much coming out these last few months that I can't justify ANOTHER game right now, sadly.

I gave time attack some play time yesterday and for some reason I expected online leaderboards but there are none, what they have done is made a mode like hero mode but given each track an official time to beat, it's still a forced 3 laps so really it's hardly any different to racing normally.

I'm sorry if i sound negative as I love the game... minus the bad rubber banding AI.

Update seems a little barebones. Time trials with no online leaderboards and friend searching instead of just inviting them into the lobby which is weird, too.

Oh well, still nice they added it in for free. This game will be pretty dead starting next Friday, though. Still a good buy as an early Switch title.
