Claire Temple may not have superpowers, but her character is the glue that holds the burgeoning Defenders together. Appearing in every Marvel/Netflix show to date, Rosario Dawson's character is for all intents and purposes the Night Nurse of the MCU. But while she regularly patches up the various heroes running around the streets of New York, she also dispenses wisdom to the often cocky heroes. As such, she's a vital member of the growing team and has more than earned her spot in each Marvel/Netflix show.

Thanks to her time on Iron Fist, Claire's even learned to start fighting for herself. While already formidable, her time training with Colleen Wing and battling the Hand has given her confidence and fighting experience. She also gained a sweet set of metal claws. But in all that time fighting against the evil ninjas, many fans began wondering why Claire didn't reach out to Daredevil. Not only are they quite close, but she and the vigilante formerly faced off against the clan. He's also presumably just a quick subway ride away.

While the answer is clearly the desire to let each Marvel/Netflix show be its own thing, despite how connected they are, Collider still posed the question to Dawson to get her thoughts:

"We always allude to it that I’ve got this friend, but he gets to have time off. He was working on The Defenders, and he’s about to start up Daredevil again. At the end of the day, it’s really hard to get all of those casts together. For The Defenders, it was difficult to get everybody together. People are busy! There are so many times where I really want it to happen. I really wanted to do a cameo on The Punisher, but it doesn’t always work that way."

Dawson makes another good point, that the busy schedule of the actors prevents them all from popping up as much as fans would like. Luckily, The Defenders will see plenty of team-up action for the Marvel/Netlix heroes; while allowing Claire and Luke Cage to continue their romance. And though Luke and Jessica Jones may yet be destined to wind up together (like in the Marvel comics), it'll still be nice to see "Night Nurse" have a little happiness between all of the ninja fighting.

Dawson's final comment is also illuminating, as it officially confirms Claire won't be showing up on The Punisher. As such, it will mark the first of the Marvel/Netflix shows that she hasn't appeared on. Fans may be disappointed to hear as much, but Dawson looks to be busy enough with superheroes as it is. Chances are her work filming The Defenders conflicted with shooting The Punisher. Then again, Claire probably wouldn't be too keen on helping someone like Frank Castle in the first place.
