The finalists for the 2017 Hugo Awards have been announced, and the final voting process begins this week. The winners will be announced at the 75th World Science Fiction Convention in Helsinki, Finland, on August 11, 2017.
In a nice turn of events, the problems with slate voting—exemplified by Vox Day and the “Rabid Puppies” recommendations—haven’t managed to dominate any category nearly as much as they have in previous years. Here are the nominees:
