Lucasfilm & Walt Disney Imagineering Unveil Star Wars Land

Trending News: Disney Showed Off Star Wars Land And Our Minds Are Exploding

Why Is This Important?

Disney is gearing up to reinvent the theme park game all over again.

Long Story Short

Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Imagineering have given us our first look at Disney Parks’ upcoming Star Wars Land and our minds our exploding.

Long Story

If, like us, you’re passing the time until The Last Jedi hits theaters by keeping busy with other Star Wars-related endeavors (such as repeatedly using the Star Wars name generator to find your perfect alter ego and trying to determine which is the all-time best creature), we’ve got something waaaay better for you to focus your Jedi-loving energy on: analyzing (and freaking out about) the newly unveiled plans for Disney's Star Wars Land.

It was during Saturday's Star Wars Celebration in Orlando that Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Imagineering hosted a panel titled Star Wars and Disney Parks: A Galaxy in the Making during which they teased plans for the Star Wars lands coming to California's Disneyland and Florida's Walt Disney World Resorts.

The destination of these magical lands? A “remote village" on the Outer Rim, right on the edge of the Unknown Regions, which was once "a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel,” reads Disney’s official press release

“Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order.” Expect to see plenty of unusual characters, exotic supplies and “rogues looking to join a crew for their next adventure.” OK, we're officially on the verge of a freakout.

Star Wars Land is setting out to be much, much more than your typical theme park attraction. It'll be an unrivalled immersive experience during which your actions will spark unique outcomes in other locations of the land and yes, you’ll be able to decide if you want to collaborate with the Resistance or the First Order.

If the teaser video is any indication, no expense will be spared when it comes to making everything look as realistic as possible. Even though the attraction will not be open to the public until 2019, it looks like the agonizing two-year wait will be more than worth it.
